I recently spent five nights at Capt. Sawyer's and highly recommend it. The innkeeper is personable, a lifelong resident and great source of information about the region. As remarked in other reviews, her breakfasts are above and beyond the call of duty, with fresh-baked muffins, quiche, and waffles every morning. Rooms vary in size but all are well kept and charmingly furnished in this historic home - four poster bed, quilts, homey touches throughout. The property has large and lovely first and second floor porches with flower pots everywhere -great places for sitting back and watching the world go by. Centrally located on Commercial St. in very easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, and the piers. Compared to prices of other B&Bs, I thought Capt. Sawyer's was excellent value for money. The resident dog and cat are sweethearts - if for some reason you don't want to be around animals, that would be the only reason I could think of not to stay here.

“Great Choice for Boothbay Harbor”

This will be the third year we go back to Captain Sawyers for our anniversary weekend. The innkeeper is warm and friendly but not in your face. She makes a wonderful, truely homemade breakfast. The location is excellent and within walking distance to everything in BBH. We stay in the same room each year. Its small but comfortable. Others are larger but we spend little time in the room - the two porches and patio area are too inviting. This place is VERY reasonably priced. You won't be disappointed.

Have stayed at several places in Maine over last 20 years but keep ging back to Captain's Saywer's, which is the best for a true Bed and Breakfast stay.

Nice accomodations, great location and very warm friendly people running the place --

GREAT BREAKFAST OFFERING OF QUICHES, HOT BREAD AND varied NUT AND FRUIT cakes, ETC, -all made on site- NO prepared in a box offerings.

stay a few days and you will go back!!!

We booked Captain Sawyer's Place mainly because it was one of the only B&Bs that was open the weekend that we were heading to Boothbay to relax. The innkeeper was very friendly and inviting, even offering us a choice of available rooms. We had a room just inside the front door. It was very cozy... not a spacious room but suited our purposes of just hanging out and relaxing. The breakfast was wonderful, including quiche and belgian waffles! It's also a "kid friendly" place as well. There were two little ones seated at the breakfast table in the morning.
