The Harbor House is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast, located in Boothbay, ME. The Inn offers beautiful accommodations on top of the hill overlooking the harbor. We just returned from a 4 night stay at Harbor Hill and this truly was a wonderful B&B although, I guess no trip is truly long enough as the days just flew by. The innkeepers Monica and Tom at Harbor Hill boasts genuine hospitality, along with superior service and comfort, all in a beautiful setting ~ Very quiet and serene, with most rooms and the porch having views of the harbor. This charming romantic Bed and Breakfast is the perfect choice for getaways and vacations in Maine.
Monica and Tom, will provided you with information on local activities and guide you on things to see and do around the area. From the time you walk through the door and are greeted by these wonderful friendly & caring innkeepers Monica & Tom, you will feel at home. The amenities offered during your stay are great and truly add to making you feel at home. Knowing you can just get a hot beverage and a snack at anytime during the day is nice. Each day you will find a homemade dessert that is put out for you to enjoy, which is a nice added touch when relaxing. Only thing (for me anyway) that was missing was cream for the coffee or tea. Suggestion: would be nice to have some cold beverages available in the refrigerator. (i.e. pitcher of ice tea, soda)
A welcome basket of goodies can be found in your room upon arrival making for a nice special added touch. Our room (#5) and the entire Inn is kept up and is immaculately clean, with breath taking views that are absolutely beautiful.
Breakfast is SUPER with a different hot item each morning during your stay, served with some great delicious homemade breads, muffins, fruit, cereal, yogurt, etc. daily. You will have that nice relaxing feeling, either sitting and having breakfast on the wrap around porch or just hanging out in the common room downstairs.
While staying you can enjoy boating, fishing, kayaking, wealth of sights, sounds and scents to savor-the lobster wharves, with clams and mussels steaming on the dock; the gulls' distinct cries; the tingle of sun and salt on your skin; the cooling relief of an onshore breeze and the pleasant expectation of a succulent lobster dinner served with drawn butter or just simply relax. No trip is complete with a trip to the Boothbay Lobster Wharf: http://www.boothbaylobsterwharf.com/.
You are in easy walking distance to the village area where you will find antique shops, and restaurants. The restaurants are plentiful and varied, and the food is delicious. Just note that you will have a hill to climb on the return trip back to Harbor House.
Take a boat cruise, there are a few different ones to pick from...I would recommend the Burnt Island Lighthouse tour http://www.maine.gov/dmr/burntisland/index.htm. and the Cabbage Island Clambake http://www.cabbageislandclambakes.com/. You are only a short drive to the Boothbay Railway http://www.railwayvillage.org/ which I also would recommend. There is a great Village Vehicle Exhibit that contains over 50 antique cars and is a showroom not to be missed on your visit to the Boothbay Railway.
So if you’re looking for total peace & relaxation, you’ve found it here!!
Monica & Tom are wonderful; I know you'll enjoy meeting them and staying at their wonderful Inn. We highly recommend this Inn.
