“Romantic Getaway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2010

If you're looking for a relaxing and romantic weekend in a charming location then this is the place to go. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and clean and the food at the restaurant is incredible. I had the most delicious blackened salmon and grilled casear salad and my husband had a pan seared tuna that he's still talking about. The inn is within walking distance to all the shops and the harbor. We loved having the privacy of our room and the ability to walk down the hall to enjoy a glass of wine by the restaurant fireplace. We will definitely go there again.

We spent a wonderful night at The Thistle Inn last week. Loved that the inn was close to town, could walk down to the harbor and the shops. We spent the afternoon at the Botanical Gardens which is a must-see when you are in the area. The kids could have played there for hours! The inn was fantastic, comfortable and cozy. We will definitely be back!

Max & Jen were extremely helpful and full of conversation. The historic inn is well kept and very clean. We ate at the restaurant one night and the food and decor were exceptional. The rooms were good sized and very comfortable. I only wish the rooms had a balcany and a water view. The inn is a 5 minute walk from the harbor and the town center. I would recommend this inn unless you are really looking for a water view.

Such a good place to find - get there if you can! Jen and Max' welcome is impressive and is retained throughout a stay. Great wine conversation with knowledgable Max, food standard excellent at the dinner we enjoyed, breakfast delightful with considerate Jen. The innkeepers go out of their way to help, welcome, and serve you and they certainly do a good job. The place is very conveniently situated in Boothbay Harbor with easy walking to the pier and harbor. Bedrooms comfortably fitted and spacious. Outside breakfast area in sunny spot just under light shade of trees completed our morning experience. Free use of notebook for internet was convenient too. Good selection of books in their library. nothing to say against this place. Jen and Max deserve the success this place demonstrates. Highly recommended by David & Christine from UK.

This was an excellent Inn for my sister and daughter, the room was clean and very comfortable with modern equipment. The Inn is charming, very clean and makes you feel right at home. The dining is absolutely superb! Everything on the menu was first class. The staff, host and hostess felt us feel truly welcome. The fact tha it centrally located in Booth Bay Harbor village was also a plus. I would visit this in again!

A gorgeous weekend in Boothbay Harbor at this charming inn full of character. Our room was very nicely decorated in calm warm colors with furniture that was more pottery barn style than antique. We appreciated the clean, no clutter style and updated amenities like the flat screen TV and wireless access. They even had a little laptop available for guests who left technology behind. We had two great breakfasts under the care of Max and Jen, the owners of the inn. They were a delight to talk to and get recommendations on the best places to go. Their top picks led us to the botanical gardens and a wonderful evening sail on the Lazyjack schooner. They also had some great hints on places to enjoy the water/beach that were not crowded by tourists. There was so much to see and do we want to plan to go back in the fall for another visit. The inn was superb...and the restaurant was outstanding. It was a luxury to have it right on site. This is a not to miss destination for evening dining. The restaurant has a very special character unlike the tourist traps in the pier area of the harbor. The food was outstanding. We ended up eating at the restaurant both nights and could have stayed for more. The tuna tartar was the best I have ever tasted. Some kind of seasoning that made the flavors meld into a delicious treat. The fruit de mer was outstanding - black garlic was yummy! The rack of lamb special was mouth watering. We are looking forward to our next visit already. Thank you Jen and Max for making our trip such a delight. We will spread the word and will be back for more!
