Stayed here with the family -- they had just opened the hotel for the season. We thought that the room was pretty standard (we did opt for a lower priced room back near the road, not one of the "premier" rooms with water view, so that may be a consideration), but clean. Breakfast (included) was excellent, with a good variety of hot and cold options. Service/staff was friendly and very helpful. The hotel is in a great location, right on the water in downtown Boothbay Harbor with lots of restaurants and activities nearby. This would be a strong consideration during peak season, as parking is at a premium and being in the middle of everything without having to drive/park is a real bonus.

Very good accomendations for their two rooms for the hand-icapped with a wheel-in shower and huge bathroom, but these rooms are situated way in back of the Inn where there was little view of the water and where they have the laundry room and prepar-ation room for the restaurant, so at 7:00 or so in the morning my husband and I were awaken.

The food is so, so.

But, the area was just beautiful and relaxing!

We just returned from an eight day vacation where we toured several New England states, including Maine. Boothbay was our second stop and while it was pretty and our dinner was great at the Rocktide Inn, we would not do Boothbay if we had it to do over. There are just too many other great spots like Bar Harbor that we would have chosen to stay at.
As for the Rocktide Inn, it was not horrible, but was like a Panama City Beach, FL room planted in a fishing village and harbor. We were however, pleasantly surprised at just how wonderful the restaurant was and their service. I highly recommend their restaurant. The room was clean, but little things like having the bathroom light on the outside of the bathroom was a little annoying. The view was fabulous from the room and we did get great photos.
The rooms are very small, so if you have more than two people, limit the number of bags you take in.

My boyfriend and I just returned from a lovely Columbus Day weekend at Boothbay Harbor. My boyfriend knew about the Rocktide, having stayed there a few years ago, and also through a trip organized by his place of employment. The Inn is very nice - immaculate rooms, excellent dining, and very friendly staff. The complimentary breakfast had standard fare, but was good - especially the blueberry muffins! You will probably have to wait for a table at breakfast if you go late rather than early. (Breakfast runs from 7:30-9:30.) The rooms are a bit small, but the higher priced rooms have a lovely view of the bay. (All rooms have access to a balcony.) My one big criticism has to do with the bathroom. It was tiny!!! The tub and toilet area is separated by a door, and it's tough to even turn around when the door is closed. Also, there is no door to close off the sink area from the rest of the room. So, if you're like me, and don't like to disturb anyone when you're drying your hair in the morning, forget it! They are also skimpy with towels. There was no coffee pot in the room, something I have grown used to. The location of this inn is super - a 5-minute walk across the bridge into town. If you are a smoker though, find another place...this is no smoking place and there is a fine for smoking in the room and/or on the balcony. (They do allow smoking on the deck out back though.) Would we stay here again? Well, possibly, but I would check out the other motels in the immediate vicinity first and then decide.

“3rd great stay!”

We stayed at the Rocktide Inn for the third time and had an excellent time. We had never eaten dinner at the restaurant before and we had wished we had. My husband had a 2 1/2 pound stuffed lobster and I had a 2 1/4 pound stuffed. The seafood stuffing was delicious and the lobsters were just right and for a good price compared to other places, the homemade popovers were out of this world. The whole meal was just perfect. We wouldn't stay anywhere else but here. We love this place because it's clean, handy to the footbridge and staff so friendly and the deck is lovely!
