“Good place to stay...with friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

We didn't have a reservation but they had a room. A late evening call to the office and the room was held until we arrived later that night. The room was on the back side of the hotel but was larger than the standard double bed room. The room didn't feel cramped for our family of four. Breakfast was included in the price and was decent. Location was really great and convenient to the town. Would definitely stay here again for the price.

Room Tip: Don't know about the rest of the hotel but the room we stayed in on the parking lot side was lar...

If you think of the New England seaside inns that you see in old movies, you're likely to come up with a place like Boothbay Harbor Inn. It's a sprawling two-story wooden building built right along the inlet that makes Boothbay Harbor. If you sit in one of the benches on their grassy lawn that faces the harbor, you can watch lobster boats and ferries making their way in and out all day. The staff is Maine friendly and happy to chat. The restaurant's decor and menu are a throwback as well, but that means that the lobster they serve on a paper plate at the outdoor tables will have the freshly caught taste that I would expect. Not fancy, just good. Rooms are good sized and the bed was comfortable. The room did have air conditioning and the unit was not too loud, which made for a pleasant night. Our "harbor view" room on the second level had a wooden deck with two chairs to watch the harbor, which means that we had a front row view of the goings on.

Room Tip: The "harbor view" has a view of the harbor and the center or Boothbay. The "inner har...

Great location, restaurant okay. The room was small, and needed to be dusted, there was a layer of dust on the table and on the coffee maker. The shower curtain had a couple of stains, I'm hoping it was red lipstick. The shower had hair in it, 'Not Mine'. Breakfast was mediocre. Went for a walk after dinner, beautiful views of the harbor. Will be back to Boothbay. Not to this Inn.

My family of 4 stayed here August 3-4 and we couldn't be more pleased! OK... the parking was a bit of a challenge, but I'm not a nitpicker about stuff like that--- I make do. But the management was wonderful, upgrading us to a bay view room without us asking and it couldn't be more pleasant. Sitting in the evening and morning at waters edge was PERFECT! The Inn itself is clean and solid, a nice room, good free breakfast and just a short walk to the "action" on the town side of Boothbay. A great place at a Great Value.

Room Tip: Definitely pay the few extra bucks for the Bay view room.

We stayed here a night in Aug then returned 2 nights later after traveling (3 hrs) to Bar Harbor due to nice location, extremely helpful & friendly staff!
Rooms were nice/clean ~ had everything we needed.First night we had a 2nd floor harbor view in main bldg; very nice. Second night we had a first floor, inner harbor view -- the convenience was few steps to benches along harbor and have some wine. Breakfast was adequate. Had a fresh lobster dinner @ hotel first night -- excellent waitress from Nigeria w/ a student group. Nice happy hour 4-6 ea night. Excellent location next to walk bridge to town/shops (excellent chowder just across the bridge). Again, very friendly, accommodating front-desk staff (it was our 25th anniversary & our college daughters were able to order us a bottle of wine served on a tray to our room w/ glasses & said they were very helpful & nice figuring it out).

Room Tip: Premium room is not worth extra cost; all have a harbor view.(premium is to be a better view -- it i...

We were visiting Boothbay to visit family, and BHI worked out nicely. The room was fairly out of date and small- old tiny fridge taking up the table, one uncomfortable arm chair in the corner, low-quality sheets. BUT the toiletries were excellent. And the breakfast was okay (waffle maker, pastries, fruit, toast, coffee). Parking was easy and location convenient to downtown. The front-desk guy seemed easily flustered, but very nice. I wouldn't want to stay there for days on end (with two small children), but good for a day or two.

Room Tip: They have water-front rooms for an additional charge.

The location of this hotel is great for parking and getting around the town. The staff at check in and throughout the stay were friendly and helpful. The room is adequate for a 3 star. The breakfast was minimal, but okay. The rooms are outdated and could use a facelift, but for the location and price it is hard to beat. Rooms were clean.
