We stayed at the Topside for 2 nights in early May. I would find it difficult to fault anything about this superb Inn. Brian and Ed were friendly and helpful, recommending places to visit and to eat. They even lent me their road atlas. The rooms were beautifully decorated, and as they were at the top of the house gave the most wonderful views. I still think of sitting on the chair on the landing and gazing out at the Harbour. We felt relaxed, and that the Inn was a home from home. I would recommend the Topside without hesitation.

Stayed overnight with Brian and Ed, owners of the Topside Inn. What a
great stay. We had a room at the top of the stairs facing the harbor,
and the view, was spectacular. The room appointments were nice as well. The people we met there were great fun, and had wonderful conversations. The only downside was the shower broke, which was an inconvenience, but manageable. Also the internet wireless connection wasn't working right, which was also inconvenient. Loved staying there, and sat for hours on the front porch talking, drinking wine, and looking at the view. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

the inn has something for everybody! the grounds are immaculate-- lawns, gardens, and best view of the water. the common areas are comfortable, tasteful, and stylish. the guest rooms in the main house
are absolutely lovely and full of character. the rooms in the other buildings are more motel style, but are updated and can accomodate children, dogs, etc if needed. i'd stay in the main house, but then i am drawn to the charm of grand old houses. breakfast is much more than the usual continental fare-- fresh pastries, hot items, and the best homemade granola on the planet. lastly, the hosts are truly delightful and friendly and really make you feel like a guest in their house. they set the tone, rain or shine, for a relaxing and liesurely time. this place is topnotch!

I cannot say enough about how great my evening was at Topside. I only wish that I could have stayed longer than one night.

We had the room with two beds on the first floor of the main house and it was lovely with its own sitting area. There were fresh cookies in the dining area and dozens of current magazines in the library. I could have easily spent a week there, and this was before the beginning of tourist season.

Our hosts were very helpful and responsive to any requests. They recommended an excellent restaurant for dinner, not one we would have picked on our own. And they made me a special vegetarian breakfast. Their granola is TO DIE FOR!

I've stayed in many B&B's and this was easily one of the best.

Also, I asked our hosts about the previous reviewer with the dogs and they told me (and I could see) that none of the rooms off the main house were open yet, so they're not sure where the man with the dog was staying. They do, however, have rooms for folks with dogs.
