Owner description: Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is a natural wonder on 250 acres of shorefront in mid-coast Maine. Strolling through spectacular ornamental gardens and traversing miles of waterfront and woodland trails, visitors are delighted by the beautiful plantings, impressive stonework, waterfalls and fountains, and scenic views. It’s no wonder the Gardens have been hailed as one of Maine’s top three attractions. The Gardens are open 9-5 year-round, with a much-praised café and gift shop open seasonally. A visit at any time is a memorable experience.

“Beautiful Gardens and Walkways”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014

Visited while in Southport Island nearby. Lots of crowds in-season so go early. You won't be disappointed. Plan on 3 hours+ if walking trails.

“Another wonderful Alfond donation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014

The children's Garden donated by Harold and Bibby Alfond was the major attraction for us as we know how much Bibby would have loved this special place. The entire garden is designed to appeal to all sorts of personalities. Long hiking trails or intimate settings where one can sit and read and enjoy the beauty of the space. Ponds, lanes, and flower gardens all mixed together in a unique setting that features the special qualities of each specie. Take your children, grandchildren or special someone and breathe in the beauty of this very special place. Go early when it is cool and the sun does not interfere with your pictures. Parking is ample and a restaurant is on site; however, many were taking a picnic. $24 for two seniors.

“Beautiful, but crowded.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014

These gardens are extremely well-thought out and beautiful, but also very, very popular. Would rate it 5 stars if one could find a few moments of privacy/solitude/quiet anywhere.
