We were staying up at Sunday River for a summer weekend and should have researched restaurants better. Maybe it was due to the summer staff, but we didn’t have a very good experience.
Our waitress wasn’t very attentive, required numerous reminders, brought out the wrong food, put it on someone else’s bill, couldn’t get the credit card machine to work… we suspect it was her first evening. Still, it was aggravating as we’re generally pretty sympathetic but she made no efforts to apologize and even alluded that she expected us to eat the incorrect meal she brought out because they were similar.
The food was ok – we like good bar food, but this was below average. Granted we’re used to the quality of The Long Trail Brewery in Vermont, and John Harvard’s in MA, but the food at SRB wasn’t equal with these others.
The beer was decent, but by the time it came we were a bit too distracted to enjoy it. I ordered the Black Bear Stout and liked it, my wife a lager that was pretty uneventful.
I’d probably return after a long day of skiing, but don’t foresee any other reason to visit it again.
