“Family Ski Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

Our family skis every year during spring break. However, for the past few years we have not been. We usually go out West but this year decided to head to Maine. They have many peaks (8 plus a little one unnamed.) They have many different ski trails ranging from green-double black. Our family has a husband and wife, 13, and 15 year old. As I mentioned before, we had not been skiing in a while and we started off with some greens and blues. By the end of the first day we had already done a black and our last day( the third day) did a double black. Sunday River is a very nice skiing area for all ages. They have ski school and a small lift that has mostly greens for beginners. Take your family, yourself, etc. for a wonderful time.

“Friendly, family fun!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, so while there were plenty of skiers, we avoided any line-ups at rentals. The conditions were a little rough that day, but improved considerably the next morning after a night of grooming. Our seven year old was in ski school, which is well organized with great instructors and small class sizes. I was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff overall. The lodges are a little worn, but hey, they host a lot of people in wet ski boots over the 4 months they operate! We stayed in accommodations away from the hill, so cannot comment on that. All in all, for young families, it is a good destination with reasonable rates for rentals, lift tickets and ski school. Lots of lifts to choose from, and decent conditions (we were there in early March). We will likely go again.

“Along for the ride”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

I don't ski but my significant other does. I stayed in the Lodge and worked while he played. I do wish it had been a bit more comfortable and less cool.

“Great Mountain, terrible rental process”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

I love Sunday River, but hate the rental process. Two weeks ago it took 65 minutes to rent equipment. They installed a new piece of software and were quite apologetic, so I let it pass.
Yesterday, it took 47 minutes to rent. There were 3 cash registers, where they had room for 5. 2 of the 3 were working intermittently. Sunday River IT please note- Don't follow Target's IT department, invest in a couple of more cash registers and don't make your customers stand in line for an hour.
If I go back to Sunday River and they have rectified this situation I will remove this review as the rest of the rental experience (fitting boots, getting skis was excellent)
