The Gothic is located in a beautiful old historic corner building right in the middle of the little lovely seaside village of Belfast, Maine. It has big windows that flood the space with light and a beautiful small bar and lovely staff.
The food is all vegetarian, artistically prepared and plated beautifully on small plates. The specialty cocktails are creative and lovingly prepared, the wine list is small, but wonderful and interesting as are the other spirit and beer choices.
All the food choices are tasty and interesting as well as very fresh...prepared as you order and come in the order that you request....but be advised that this is not a dinner venue, this is an after work, or late afternoon, or early evening, or after dinner venue to have a cocktail with a small plate or two to share and/or a beer/wine and small plate or two to share and then if you haven't had a meal you venture out to many of the other wonderful options on the street for a meal. The beautiful plated small dishes are all wonderful, but small is the operative word here. We left the Gothic to go to another venue across the street for big juicy veggie burgers after eating at The Gothic! It does not satisfy completely and quite frankly some of the plates of beautiful food were smaller than small. The pricing is just a bit high for the quantity that is presented on small plates. So, in summary, great location, great meeting place, great small plates of interesting creative vegetarian choices, great drinks, but will not satisfy your dinner hunger. Give it a try, have a drink and try their tasty small plates, but also take a short walk down the street to fulfill any hunger cravings you may have after eating at The Gothic.
