“Best little coffee shop I know”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2011

I have traveled all over the United States and have spent much time in many different towns in Maine. Bath was by far the friendliest place I spent time. I was there for a year and will always have found memories of it. Cafe Creme is also the best coffee shop I have every been in. It may be somewhat small but the atmosphere and friendliness of the people out-weights any shortcomings of seating. The coffee is excellent with an organic selection as well as absolutely delicious organic brownies and cookies. The view from the large windows of the coffee shop look out into the crossing of center street. The street is of cobbled brick with abundant hanging baskets of flowers and roadside, flower filled, planters. I spent many an hour just sipping my coffee, nibbling my organic mint brownie, and watching the activity of people strolling the wide cobble sidewalks as they came and went into the several shops along their way. The small marina park was also a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the warmth of the sun.
I Thank Bath Maine, especially Cafe' Creme and owner Tawney, for the wonderful memories I yet hold of it.
Keep up the good work.

“Good intentions, but until they get more space....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2010

Nice location on the main shopping street of Bath, and better-than-average coffee.

The crowd includes a lot of retirees, a few students, tourists (in the summer)
marveling at the quaintness of it all, along with wifi-seekers trying to get work done.

There is a limited menu, and (as noted by other reviewers) they often do run out of
items.
The main problem is that the place is small (smaller than it appears from
the street) and noisy, and cannot really do justice
to the very distinct needs of the different groups above. The space issue is particular bad in the winter, when
every whoosh of the door brings a shiver to every inhabitant; the noise issue is
exacerbated by the music -- maybe Air Supply (what was blaring last time
I was in) is what some of the clientele
want to hear,
but those who don't care for it will have to come with earbuds even for a quick coffee,
since here you cannot be sitting far from a speaker.

As a small local operation that has put a lot of effort into the place, they have
my admiration and sympathy, but not my recommendation.
If you want coffee, there are several options
in Bath alone -- some better, some worse, and all of them cheaper.
If you want to eat, you will feel cramped and restricted in choice
--- and everyone else will be an unwilling eavesdropper on your conversation.
If you want wifi, you could go to the library down the street and find both internet
and quiet.

Stopped in for a quick cup of coffee while walking around Bath. The coffee was very good as well as the atmosphere! I will return to Cafe Creme on my next trip to Maine!

“Always a good Chai, goodies are better down the street though.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2010

I love the chai that they serve and the fact that they have soy milk seals the deal. my friends always rave about their smoothies and milkshakes, but being lactose intolerant have yet to try one. Baked goodies are OK but down the street at starlight cafe, the cookies are divine!!
