“An easy walk for the non-hikers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

It is a short walk from the parking area through the piney woods to the rocks overlooking the water. Unlike the main area of Acadia National Park there are very few drop offs so this area is more child friendly. There are large areas of flat rocks perfect for enjoying a small picnic or an afternoon snack.

“gentle trail, picnic on the rocks, take a dip in the "harbor"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Cute little trail. The Ship Harbor itself is pretty and the coast and views from it are great. If you are brave and the weather is warm the harbor is a good place for a dip in the sea, which is fairly rare in Acadia. Avoid the channel which fills the "harbor" as it has a wicked current at mid - low tides and is pretty rocky. But inside the harbor it is sheltered and if you go at around high tide it is pretty safe and many of the weedy rocks are covered. We have mostly swum in the South East bay of the "harbor".
NB this is not a harbor, though I have seen motor boats come in at high tide.

“A nice surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

We saw this on our map, but didn't realize what a beautiful spot this would be. Walking in the woods near the coast is incredibly refreshing. The smells and sounds, as well as the views, made us feel miles away from civilization. Loved this place!

“Easy trail, wonderful tide pools, lovely views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

Ship Harbor is an easy and relatively flat wooded trail leading to the waterfront and some tide pools. My kids really loved exploring the tide pools and climbing the rocks all along the shore. This is a relatively quiet trail and there are many places to stop and have a snack while enjoying the gorgeous view. There was a port-a-potty at the trailhead -- no bathrooms.

“Kodak moment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

I love the smell of the ocean. Great water front hiking trails. Very easy to follow. Suitable for a slow, quiet walk on the ocean front.
