“Great refurbishments”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2010

The refurbishments have been a long time coming and still in motion. I stayed in a 3rd floor room and it's nicely and tastefully refurbished including the bathroom. Much improved and comfortable - except for the pillows - I don't know what it is with Holiday Inns and their thick neck straining pillows. Staff are friendly; tea/coffee, fridge and microwave in every room. Coin op laundry; Golds gym next door to work off the Dunkin donuts on the other side. The van will take you to/from the airport and shopping when available. Restaurant/Bar on site is popular, the food is ok and it can get busy some nights with karaoke and night life. There isn't much else around here; a truck stop up the road has a good salad bar for healthier food options but when it snows; it's no fun at all. Free wi-fi can be a bit sketchy. Computer and printer in lobby. 2 pools, one in and one out - summertime. Overall a comfortable and convenient stay for a necessary stop in the area.

Had to stay in Bangor overnight because of a flight connection from Canada. I am a Priority Club Platinum Elite--but didn't get or seek an upgrade. I had a large room with good amenities including free wireless Internet plus a good indoor pool. Bathrooms are very small and old--they really need an overhaul. In general, the whole hotel needs to be updated.

It's not at the top of my list of Holiday Inns. But overall, the hotel served its purpose--a good night's sleep and close to the airport to catch my morning flight.

The room was close to the airport and clean. However, the bed was terrible for the back...

I recently had the pleasure of stying at the Holiday Inn Bangor Maine on Odlin road - at first I was leary as the trip advisor comments were not that good. But I was there on business and needed to stay somewhere. I will say that from the front desk check in experience to the service in the bar to the service in the restaurant for breakfast, housekeeping and all the way up until check out the experience was WONDERFUL! The room I was delighted to find out was newly renovated and was very nice, the beds were very comfortable, 4 pillows was perfect, new flat screen tv's to the convienant 1 cup coffee maker all were so gratefully appreciated. The shower was wonderful, plenty of hot water and a wonderful shower head. I also have worked in hotels for years, and am usually quite a critic but everything was PERFECT! Sure the Lobby is not brand spanking new but the Guest service was excellent, staff at front desk, bar, breakfast room, all up to par. Never ran into housekeepers but was happy to tip them as the room was perfectly serviced. I have business their for 2 weeks in October and have stayed at the Hampton Inn before on prior business trips - but WILL RETURN TO THE HOLIDAY INN FROM NOW ON. Only complaint was the internet was slow on day 2 but day 1 fine.

We stayed with family and occupied several rooms otherwise we would have switched hotels! When we called to book our rooms they promised a continental breakfast and cribs. The continental breakfast wasn't free and the cribs were half the size of a normal crib. Our children couldn't run around inside the rooms without socks because their feet were black if they did. Rooms wasn't clean. Bathroom tile had mold! We rarely had towels after room service had "cleaned our room". We always had to call the front desk to get them to bring us new ones. The pool was big but we usually had to call and wait for pool towels for 20 minutes. The hot tub looked brown and wasn't clean! They were in the process of remodeling so access was limited. We definitely wouldn't stay again! Management made excuses and the staff was not friendly!

It's not bad... We were headed for Bar Harbor so it was a bargain compared to beach hotels. It was clean, but they're remodeling. Our room decor was right out of the Brady Bunch - very 70s, but by no means was it run down. Caution: If you are a light sleeper, you may have trouble with loud train whistles and low planes.

1. staff was fairly friendly and helpful, had no issues with this
2. location was great, just off the i 95, close to airport, shopping, and two decent bars within walking distance(one right in the hotel called pete & larry's)
3. indoor pool was a decent size and fairly well maintained , hot tub was a little old and tired looking, also had no towels in the pool area
4.the room (king bed guest room) was very attractive with a great king bed and big screen t.v. also had a very nice bathroom which was clean and in great condition

overall it's pretty much what you would expect for a holiday inn , its not the ritz but its a nice place to spend a few nights and just relax. would definitely stay here again without hesitation.
