I have been to this museum several times over the years, and I am disappointed to discover that it is getting worse and worse. The idea is good - love the connection to Maine wildlife, industry, authors, etc. My visit today with my 4 year old resulted in closed activities, broken activites, and many missing toys. There is nothing to play with in "Condon's Garage", very few props in the doctor's office (with the exception of baby doll clothes, but no doll), and a very limited supply of play food, dishes, etc in the restaurant. The floor and walls looked dirty. To top it off, we must have shown up during a summer camp time, so my child had to share space with lots of other children who were not well supervised by the staff. Some of these kids were rude, running, and pushing my son out of a play space, with no redirection from the staff. I don't have a problem with other children sharing public play space, but usually when a few kids are with their parents/caregiver there is more discipline. The staff did not appear well-trained. I was not happy to spend $15 for the two of us for this disappointing experience. I only went as a treat for my son, and will not be back.
