“Good food but ALWAYS let down by very slow service.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

I've eaten here many times and am finally driven to write a review! The food is always good but every single time I have eaten here they have let themselves down with terribly slow service!! Even as a walk in off the street on a quiet night it takes 5 minutes of playing with a computer booking system before we are shown to a table and then forgotten about!!

Eventually we catch a waiter and order drinks and 10 minutes later can see them sitting on the bar.. but it is another 10 minutes before they are finally delivered nearly half an hour after our arrival at the restaurant. Sadly things didn't improve all night and we left without leaving a tip - the staff simply didn't deserve one.

Come on guys, get a grip!!!

We came for a wedding here and stayed overnight before leaving Scotland. The location is very good - a wonderful view out across the Firth of Forth - and the rooms are fine, although a bit small. What may count against it is the steep stairs (and no lift) which made trudging up to the top floor a bit of a grind. The room we stayed in had the smallest ironing board in the world, which didn't help very much when getting ready for a wedding, but again, your shirts may be smaller / less crumpled than mine. The bed may have been comfortable or may not have been, but after 8 hours solid drinking I wasn't paying that much attention.

We found the staff quite helpful (the rosy glow of attending a wedding may mean we're not the best judge of their performance); in particular breakfast the day after was delivered swiftly and proficiently. They're also good for lunchtime drinks before you put yourself through the horrors of flying south again.

Would definitely recommend, meal from starters to main and sweet were fantastic.
Service was excellent, the only thing that let it down was lack of parking spaces, had a ten minute walk to car park on a cold October night.

The setting of Orocco Pier is undoubtedly great - it has fantastic views out across the Firth of Forth. However, that's thanks to geomorphology and Victorian engineering, not the hotel owners. I stayed for one night for a wedding and found it to be a mixed bag as a venue. Some of the staff were lovely, some were grumpy; the breakfast was great but very slowly served; the dinner was nice but the drinks were staggeringly pricy. I'd urge a bit of caution - take away the view and the hotel is decent, but not much more.

Having travelled past South Queensferry on many occassions, we decided to have a look and see what there was to offer. After a walk about, we liked the look of this place and were not disappointed!
The view overlooking the rail bridge is stunning as is the interior. It may look like a few of the modern restaurants that are around, but the feeling was it was more than a good place to eat.
The food was excellent and the staff were very attentive but not over powering.
Would really recomend this place!!!

I have only ever eaten here at lunch time when catching up with my good friends. The food had always been very nice. The tea/coffee and desserts are nice too. Try getting a table at the window for great views of the Forth Bridges :-)

My partner booked a nights stay for my birthday on 2/10/12. From the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel welcome. Our room overlooked the rail bridge and was so luxurious. My partner is 6ft 4inch and the bed was more than big enough for him.. In the evening we had dinner which was delicious and the creme brule was fantastic, I could eat that every day for the rest of my life.. Staff were friendly and helpfull and the hotel was perfect..
