This bistro is resting on its laurels a little too much and it is hoped that the competition becomes a little more ambitions in its offerings as after a visit for lunch today, my family and I were left bitterly disappointed. The service from our waitress was excellent but the same can't be said for the very grouchy, unpleasant waiter behind the bar. He is obviously in the wrong job and clearly has contempt for his customers. On asking for a particular piece of apple pie for my 84 year old mother, he commented that "she will get the next bit on the plate". I was so taken aback by his rudeness and lack of manners that I walked away in disbelief. I had to complain to the other waitress. Totally unacceptable. It isn't the cheapest place to visit and even if it was, one expects better service than that. We won't be back.
On a separate note, the tea that is served is ghastly. Cheap and nasty. C'mon Railbridge Bistro, you can do better than that! Again, unacceptable. Let's hope whoever opens up next door begins to bring this rather complacent eaterie to its senses and makes it try a bit harder. The customer deserves that.
