Don't trust the great first impression. Everything initially looks nice but with closer inspection you'll see that the hotel appears to be poorly designed and cheaply assembled. Door to my room is not level and sticks. Bathroom fixtures are crooked and/or visibly not level. Room entry, bathroom, and closet are not adequately spaced. An open bathroom door prohibits room entry/exit and interferes with use of closet. Bathroom is small. Water in room is brown but seemingly not as bad as other hotels in West Monroe. Some nice furnishings in room (excellent mattress and fresh smelling linens) but something just seems missing or not quite right. The mini fridge does not have a freezer, so those traveling with refrigerated meds and need to freeze their ice packs between stops will have to figure something else out. Extra electrical outlets on the lamps are a nice plus. Housekeeping starts very early (at least as early as 8 am), is quite noisy, and seems to keep the narrow hallways quite a mess while working. Business center is tiny, has one chair for two work stations, and again, cabinet doors are poorly hung and crooked. The indoor pool really sucks. It's very small, too small for swimming. The pool area is very small, minimally furnished, and not for hanging out. There can't be more than about three feet of space between the pool and the wall, the floor is not level and splashed water pools between the pool and wall. The water in the pool and whirlpool does not look clean. If there are very very very noisy, screaming, noisy, screaming, loud, screaming children running the hallways, creating chaos at the pool, or destroying the business center whose rude and inconsiderate parents will not control them...expect hotel staff to not see or hear it. The hotel is across from an expo center...you will fight flies in the hotel parking lot during the summer. This is not the Paris Hilton. Well, maybe.
