“Great Alternative to the Hotel Chains on I-20”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

We make the trip from Dallas to Montgomery once a year and like to break up the drive back with a stopover near Monroe. We’ve regularly stayed at the HGI or Hampton Inn on our way back. No more. On a whim, we booked the Hamilton House and couldn’t have been more pleased. Tonya and husband have poured a lot of time and elbow grease into creating a very nice B&B with a bed you didn’t want to get out of. Tonya’s breakfast was great and her recommendation for dinner at Cotton couldn’t be beat.

We took a trip to visit friends and check on the progress of an investment in the area and accidentally found THE BEST place to stay in Monroe - West Monroe on the internet. The place has been beautifully restored. The bedding is comfortable and offers a great night sleep at the same price as a chain hotel. The historic settling in the antique alley and close proximity to great restaurants made it perfect. We found Cotton and River & Rail to be two great restaurants just across the bridge.

I travel to Monroe about twice a month for work and everytime I make sure I am able to get a reservation at the Hamilton House. The prices are not much higher than your other chain hotels and you get a luxury room with an amazing bed, fenominal breakfast of your choice, and great hospitality by Tonya!

If you visited Antique Alley in past years you might have stayed at The Rose Leigh Inn. West Monroe history and lore indicates the building housed a booming bar and a brothel upstairs at the turn of the Twentieth Century. The furnishings of the old Rose Leigh built on that theme with high brass beds, brocade wall papers and accessories reminiscent of wilder times in West Monroe when boatmen coming off the Ouchita River wanted to have some drinks and blow off some...steam.

However, new Innkeepers Thom and Tonya Hamilton have transformed the Inn into a quiet and comfortable spot for a romantic getaway. This is a hidden gem of a little inn you will want to return to for the hospitality, the decor, and most of all the hospitality of Tonya Hamilton who is a fantastic cook and an absolutely charming hostess. Her exceptional breakfasts will give you the strength to get up and do what needs to be done.

Each of the rooms is beautifully done. King beds, crystal chandelier sconces, claw-footed tubs, beautifully tiled showers. The Hamiltons have renovated the Inn to perfection.

Don't be surprised if you run into crew in town filming the Duck Dynasty series for A&E. Did I mention that West Monroe is the location for all things Duck Hunting brought to you by the sharp dressed Robertson family men.

Plus, Hamilton House is right on Trenton Street, the heart of Antique Alley. Whether you're in West Monroe to antique or pick up a genuine Robertson duck call, Hamilton House is the ideal place to stay.

Room Tip: Don't worry about choosing the ideal room. Each one is a jewel.

We enjoyed our stay last night. Thank u again for all your hospitality!! Room was very nice and cozy, also loved the claw tub. but I think my favorite was the high ceilings and brick walls. Breakfast was delicious. I want the new blueberry scone recipe..lol they were good.

Wished we would have come across this place long ago! The rooms are great and the service is fantastic!! Breakfast this morning was amazing!! There are several restaurants near by...walking distance or just a short drive across river. Enjoyed coming back last night and sitting out on the balcony. We just left today and are already planning our next trip back!

We just spent two days at this wonderful B&B. The owners were very accommodating, especially since we arrived late in the evening. Our room was beautiful, loved the decor and it was extremely clean. Tall ceilings, exposed brick and big windows. We had Wi-Fi and Directv on a flat screen. The bed was the best part - tempurpedic!! We were served an incredible breakfast each morning - all homemade, including pastries. The owners, Tanya and Thom, have thought of everything to make each stay great. Easy access to our own beverages and a charming deck to sit outside and enjoy them on. The inn is located on an equally charming street and there was an excellent restaurant next door, Cascios Tavern. Right across the river is downtown Monroe, with great restaurants too. I would highly recommend this inn and we can't wait to visit again. Thank you for everything Tonya and Thom!!

Room Tip: All the rooms are available to view on their website. It was nice to choose the room that was availa...
