“Unexpected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

Happened across B&C after visiting the Laura Plantation. It looked like a real 'local joint' -- and is. Unassuming on the outside, clean inside. Outstanding shrimp stew -- and a good-sized portion. The equal (or better) of what you will find in downtown New Orleans. A mound of crawfish if you are so inclined. Worth the stop.

“good food and ambiance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

excellent food and atmosphere at a local venue, the gumbo was great but the seafood steak with a super sauce was best.

“Good value - good service - good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Perfect place to stop for lunch when visiting Laura or Evergreen Plantation. Slightly puzzled by some previous reviews that were overly concerned with the outside appearance of the building etc. It looked fine to us outside and inside. You enter through the retail sales portion of the business and take a left to the dining rooms. Very simple wooden tables and chairs. This is all about good fresh local food. Enjoy it for what it is. And Ladies be sure to take your camera when heading to the Ladies room as you will definitely want to take a few photos of the wall murals and the "Lady Alligator". And take home a quart of frozen seafood gumbo if you have a microwave where you are staying. Yum.

“Good lunch place in Vacherie LA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

We stopped here after visiting Laura's Plantation. The food was average but nothing exceptional. My oyster Poboy was wholly acceptable. The 5 industrially produced fried onion rings at 2.95 were overpriced. Our fried green tomato appetizer were average, but nothing exceptional. Although we did not order same, 3 lbs of of crawfish were 15.00.

There is a seafood market attached that sells some local products and imported frozen seafood as well.

“Highway Robbery for tourists!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

We stopped at this restaurant for lunch while in the area touring local plantations and based on other reviews. There was entertainment with a guy on the guitar, which was nice. We ordered the Boudin ball appetizer, 1 frog leg plate and 1 grilled catfish plate and 2 iced teas. The servings were very small. The small boudin balls (came to $1.50 each) were served in a soup cup. The frog legs were chewy, potatoes and onions, peppers were OK . My husbands catfish was bland and required doctoring up. Both lunch plates were also very small. All in all we would have been OK with this, but when you go away still hungry after spending $33 + tip, I mean really?
