“Quality all round ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

My wife and I have had coffee here a few times but boked for an evening meal with two friends. Due to the recent opening of the Secret Garden, as an addition to the already great plant nursery, it is a time of 'bedding' in. The table we were allocated upstairs provided a lovely view over the surrounding countryside. On being shown to the table it was evident that time had been taken by Anne in choosing the internal decor.
The menu was varied and one could choose a two or three course meal; both options priced favourably. The food was served by very plesant staff who were open to some well intentioned banter (Jill ... take a bow) but the evening was a most pleasant experience and the food was good as to both quality and quantity.
As this is a new venture I can somewhat sympathise with 'RINGFAN' as to their experience ... though I would say that on a subsequent visit their review may be different. We were asked by the manager as to our opinion on a set price menu for a Saturday night, so the management are thinking ahead.
Based on our first meal in this new venture this is somewhere we will frequently patronise ...

Went there for lunch.
Good to see place very busy but we managed to get a table.
The service was a bit chaotic and we had different people serving us. We asked 3 times for a top up of tea but it didn't materialise.
The chips, I thought were very greasy but my colleagues liked them.
Overall it was ok for lunch but I'm not sure if I'd eat there in the evening.
On the plus side the garden centre is lovely with very helpful staff.

“Nice food, prompt service, if a little pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013 via mobile

Went for afternoon tea. 2nd visit. Car park is compact, but they are working well with the space provided. Sat up stairs. Nice views. Served by Jill, very attentive and pleasant. Couldn't do more for us. Took time. Made it feel personal. After the sad news we had gotten earlier this was just what we needed. Very busy place, but we will be back.

“DISAPPOINTED”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

My son and I decided to have lunch (granted a few days after they opened) I can only describe it as a shambles. Staff were under pressure and not particularly polite.

We were told to wait at the door !!!!! and then to go upstairs if there weren't any tables for two we were to come back downstairs again !!!! However, we got a table for two and waited and waited and waited and waited. No body came to say they were sorry or even give us a menu, very bad indeed.

Consequently we couldn't wait any longer (approx 15 mins) and not even a menu. We decided it would be quicker to go home and have our lunch which we did.

Will I be back I don't think so.

“Great food, warm atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013 via mobile

Visited tonight in a party of 5, we all ordered different things and each one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal! I, myself had the Brie in filo pastry, and the mussels, which were this evenings special. The mussels in particular were excellent! The restaurant itself was warm and welcoming and the staff couldn't be faulted as they were willing to cater to every need! Although it was very busy, we never felt rushed or unwelcome. To round off the evening we had a round of coffees, and not only were the americanos, lattes and cappuccinos well presented, they tasted just as good as they looked! All in all a wonderful dining experience and I look forward to returning! Well done all!
