“What's the Italian word for "mediocre"?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013 via mobile

On the plus side: the hot fresh bread brought to my table was very light and very good. Staff were friendly but looked over worked.

On the mediocre side: perhaps it is because I have been to Italy, Sicily and the North End of Boston biases my review. The linguini and shrimp in a pink sauce was just OK. Not enough garlic and only five small shrimp. The pasta was over cooked but the shrimp weren't. This sauce tastes exactly like the sauce you get in a jar from Rao's, with a few chopped tomatoes added. Really tastes like Rao's! They wouldn't, would they?

On the negative side: I wanted a beer. They were out of Peroni and Shiner Bock and only had the traditional lousy beers (Bud, Bud light, Coors and Corona). What, the beer truck can't find Sulphur? They did have KJ Cabernet, not too bad for $7.

Also I didn't get the impression cleaning was their top priority. My clean table wasn't. It was sticky. The floor also needed sweeping.

Well, reading the other reviews, this is apparently the best Italian Sulphur has to offer. If I want mediocre Italian I will find an Olive Garden. At least the stores are clean.

“Best in Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

This place has nothing on just Pizza. The place has the best itialin food in this area... I would put olive Garden to shame anyday. If you want the best food other than Cajun in the area you have to try this but dont let the pizza part stray you from it.... This place Rocks! gosh to have one close to home!

“Excellent dining, OK location, bleak ambiance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

First off, the wait staff are fantastic- very kind and attentive. The menu is large enough to find something to please just about anyone. I ordered the lasagna and it was absolutely wonderful- probably the best I've ever eaten. Unfortunately, that's as good as it gets. The building looks like it may have been an old church that was hollowed out and replaced with a dining area- decor is all but lacking, the tables covered with cheap plastic topped table cloths.....you almost feel like you're eating in a garage. That being the case, small portion sizes served with the lack of an upscale dining experience leaves one wishing for a bit more for the price. Overall, the food is great, but don't expect a candlelight dinner.

“Authentic "sicilian" style Italian Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

The first time we ate there we had chicken parmesan. Wow! It took us right back to our time in northern Italy when I was stationed there in the Army in 1975. It is the real thing. We have since eaten at Joe's many times and we have had great food every time, especially there "white" pizza. It is a special sicialian recipe from Rocky that will knock your socks off or blow your mind or make you want to slap yur momma!
