We had never stayed in a Best Western Richmond Suites hotel. We were very pleasantly surprised. The room as clean and very spacious. It had a kitchenette, living room area, and a separate room for the bedroom, along with a little patio outside. The breakfast provided each morning was very good. We enjoyed the tennis courts, and had it been warmer weather, we would have enjoyed the pool also. (It was large and very nice.) There is not much to do in the area, but the hotel itself is a great place to stop when passing through the area.

The front desk staff was rude and unfriendly.
Watch out if you are using any type of a discount service (like priceline, Corp lodging Etc) They will treat you like second class citizens. I personally stopped in the night before to check a room out and to book 3 night’s stay starting the next day. I told the clerk that I needing a refrig for business, and preferred a king bed on the 1st floor for 2 adults. When I checked in I was given a dbl bed on the second Floor that was run down (not one of the newly remolded rooms) and was told this was due to the discount I was receiving. After I Unloaded my car (4 trips up the stairs) I was told I had to pay an additional $10 Plus tax per night for my wife. They didn’t care that I was told none of this the night before and if I did not like it I could move out, but still pay for the one night (even though I had only been there long enough to unload. This hotel and its staff do not deserve to be part of the Best Western Chain.

I arrived about 9:00 pM at this hotel. The first room I got, the A/C worked great but the fan motor made a loud whirring noise and the room smelled foul and musty and moldy. So I called the front desk to request a room change. The lady was somewhat rude about it.

I got a room change and the new room had a much quieter A/C unit but the unit was only putting out mildly cool air. This room also smelled like someone had smoked in it. It also smelled musty and damp and very humid. When I felt of the wall, it was soft. I could actually push my finger to the wall and make it flex and feel moisture in the wall it was so bad.

This hotel apparently has had rain damage and roof problems causing water to leak into the walls. This would explain the musty, moldy smell and feel of their rooms. I have stayed here several times, not by choice, but this is where my company chooses to have us stay.

I will give them some credit however. They do have a nice breakfast buffet that is free. It used to be better but has declined in the last year. They do also have a very nice business center with 3 or 4 computers and a free printer. The happy hour has free finger foods which is nice also, but these things do not make up for the horrible rooms.

Went to Shreveport for a taekwondo tournament with friends. My friends stayed in a double room suite-bathtub didn't drain and there was a tremendous amount of noise because their room was close to a casino. My room was okay. Bed was comfortable, but nothing much as to write home about. It almost looked liked the hotel was doubling as an apartment complex. I would almost swear I saw a grill on one of the patios! As my title suggests...use this hotel only as a last resort, and don't get a room near the back that faces the Waffle House and casino as you will not get any sleep.
