“Had a great time!”

The room was spacious and clean with a great view of the river.
Close to the Boardwalk shopping. (Take the Texas Street bridge)
Everyone we encountered was polite and friendly. The slots seemed to be loose enough to let us play for several hours. We actually ran out of energy far before money and called it a night (morning?).
Can't think of any negatives.

“Only place with available rooms on dates desired.”

Room was clean and nice, but climate control was a bit problematic and hard to set for temperatures above freezing. Thermostat was set to 67 when we arrived -- finally managed to get it raised high enough so the flimsy bed covers would provide enough warmth.

On our last evening and the next morning, for some reason the cold water in the tub and sink were coming out hot no matter how the temperature was set. A complaint to the check-out staff yielded a 'well, our maintenance staff is 24/7 -- you should have called' and no reduction in the bill.

Valet parking was free, but wireless internet access was $10 a day and a Disney movie on the TV was $14. The pool was free, but it was crammed full of noisy kids and the hot tub was even worse.

Best meal deal was Smokey Joe's. The Chicken fried steak, shrimp scampi with linguine and liver and onions were huge portions and well-prepared.

We really wanted to try the buffet, but they had a free buffet deal for one hour of table play going on -- the buffet seemed to have a huge line starting an hour before opening and stayed fairly long most of the time.

The coffee shop was a bit spendy for a sandwich or salad. Didn't bother with the steak house as we didn't bring nice clothes.

Slightly improved over when it was Harrah's. but stil just another Shreveport budget casino.

We're not gamblers and as a couple we'd never been to a casino. With our son spending time at grandma's, we wanted the getaway to be something different from anything we had done before. The gambling wasn't going to be our primary interest, but rather seeing something new and enjoying a nice hotel.

Sam's Town was awesome. Parking was free and the garage was close to the room; the room was spacious, clean and modern; the view of the river was very nice; check-in and check-out were a breeze; and we got it all for $72, with tax. I've spent time in a lot of hotels that offered much less at a much higher price.

Sam's Town was a bargain and the Boardwalk and casino area proved to be a great getaway. The Sam's Town roulette operator, Ryan, gave us tips on the game and made it fun for us. We came expecting to blow through 100 bucks (we're big spenders, huh?) and leave and we wound up gambling maybe a total of 5 hours in two days and earning $16 more than we came with.

We're planning to return again soon.

“Very nice”

Sam's Town Casino

Jun 7, 2008

My 22 year old daughter and I visited the hotel for 2 nights and had a very nice time. Not really knowing what to expect we were extremely pleased with the rooms. They were large and comfortable, but don't forget to ask for more pillows. I did and housekeeping promptly brought larger ones. The casino had some of the most friendly dealers I have ever come across. It helps that I won some money. Over all the hotel met our expections and I would definitely stay there again.

During my visit to Harrah's with my fiance, we did a little kissing and hugging [G rated] in the casino and were told to stop or we'd be escorted out!!!??? LA needs to bring itself out of the dark ages before I will EVER go back to Harrah's. And I don't need to tell you how many people I've told about this experience who will never go back either. They don't want your money and they treat you like it.
