I just got back from spending 2 nights at Sam's Town. I don't think I'll go back EVER. We went same time last year and it wasn't good then either.

My trip was a "sisters" getaway. We were suppose to have two connecting rooms... wrong. One double and one suite with a hide-a-bed across the hall was the best they could do. We'd had these reservations for months... They did comp one of the nights, but that wasn't the point. Besides, the hotel was probably only half full.

The rooms all smell like smoke. While you can only smoke in the casino... the filtration system makes the whole place smell like a smokers lounge. The cleanliness of the room was questionable, with large, unidentifiable spots on the carpet and smears on the bathroom wall (not to mention peeling wallpaper in the bathroom). The bathroom is big and roomy which is good.

The first morning had no hot water in either room (we were on the 18th floor). This after a "party" next door at 2:30 with headboard banging that woke everyone up. We did have hot water on the second morning.

The good.... the linens were wonderful including the bathroom towels. The rooms were cheap or comp... I wouldn't much pay to stay here.

I won't stay here again. I'd stay at either the Horseshoe or the El Dorado, or even Boom Town when I go back next year. Sam's needs a face lift and to hire people that realize we're customers.

“The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”

Sam's Town Hotel and Casino Shreveport

Jun 16, 2008

There were three of us ladies. When I called and made the reservation, I made it clear that we wanted a suite with a roll-away bed and a smoking room. When we checked in, we had a gorgeous view, but there were no ash trays. When I called down, they said it was not a smoking room. Since they didn't have a smoking room, they let us use that room. However, it took two phone calls to get ash trays. The desk chair had something disgusting on it, we couldn't get a roll-away due to some obscure fire laws, there was no bedding for the fold out couch, only three pillows, and there was only two cups and two glasses. One of the lamps had a burned out lightbulb, the batteries barely worked in the TV remote, one of the phones was not working properly, and the soda machine ate our money once. We had to call the desk several times, but their response was extremely slow. Even when we showed our frustration with the facilities, nothing was done. The hotel seemed completely unconcerned about our problems. We will NOT stay there again.

The good is that this is a nice hotel. So why the bad review?
(May 22st, 2008) Upon my arrival I could not get into valet parking. I am not above walking a little bit. I decided to park in the self park garage owned by the hotel.
(May 23nd, 2008) The next morning when I got to my car, a 300 with 6100 miles at the time, the passenger side mirror was broken and the door crushed. That is not the insult!
When I reported it to hotel security I did not get an "I am sorry," nor a "We will take care of it," and not even a "drop dead it is not my problem." The security guard just stood there! The idiot did not even take my name or write down my license plate number. He proudly displayed his not giving a crap.
Not only will I never stay at this hotel again, I will do my best to let everyone I know not to stay at any of the Sam's hotels across the country.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — It was a nice hotel
    • Disliked — The damage to my car, and the security's lack of anything when I tried to report it

“HEAD to EL DORADO”

Sam's Town Hotel and Casino Shreveport

May 21, 2008

The Casino at Sam's Town is run by a bunch of Douche Bags. Head over to El Dorado. Nicer Casino, better atmosphere.

One good thing about Sam's Town is that they were giving away money at the Craps table the night I was there. I"M RICH BITCH.

“STEER CLEAR”

Sam's Town Hotel and Casino Shreveport

May 16, 2008

Hotel was nice, but WHERE IS THE CASINO?? Tiny casino; or should I say tiny slot machine parlor. If you are looking for a REAL casino, steer clear. This seems to be the boring BOYD formula: big slots profit for them, no fun for you! Lots of slots no casino.
