Longfellow-Evangeline State Historical Site is located on the historic Bayou Teche. It is a 147 acre complex. With a focus to interpret and demonstrate the French speaking cultures of the first half of the 19th century. Three distinct areas to visit are: Interpretive Center, Acadian Farmstead Complex and Masison Oliver-an authentic raised Creole plantation home. The guides/rangers are knowledgeable, fun and many speak French. There are even activities for children such as playing games, churning butter, ringing bells and more.
