“UNDERSTANDING CAJUNS, CREOLES AND FRENCH OF S.W. LA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Longfellow-Evangeline State Historical Site is located on the historic Bayou Teche. It is a 147 acre complex. With a focus to interpret and demonstrate the French speaking cultures of the first half of the 19th century. Three distinct areas to visit are: Interpretive Center, Acadian Farmstead Complex and Masison Oliver-an authentic raised Creole plantation home. The guides/rangers are knowledgeable, fun and many speak French. There are even activities for children such as playing games, churning butter, ringing bells and more. Don’t miss the jewel of the state park system.
