For anyone who wants to fully experience all that this beautiful area has to offer, Butler Greenwood is your very best choice, as it offers what most people not only want, but genuinely need during a vacation - location, superior accomodations, privacy, and indescribable beauty, run by one of those rare people who really does know everything and lovingly shares it with her guests. Just off of Highway 61, close to town but far enough away to be considered one of the area's "country plantations" one can experience a total cleansing of the spirit like very few other places afford. All of the cottages are widely spaced throughout the breathtaking grounds shaded by ancient live oaks draped with spanish moss, and are individually furnished with delightfully unique amenities and fabulous decor. No two cottages are alike, some dating from the 18th century and some modern, but each with outstanding comforts and conveniences including double jacuzzi baths complete with a choice of scented bath oils with the intrusiveness of telephones being mercifully excluded. All bedding is of superior quality with luxurious sheets and comforters; continental breakfast items are stocked within each cottage, allowing guests to awaken at their leisure so that no one is forced to mingle with strangers or adhere to an early morning schedule, especially meaningful in an area where the word "schedule" seems incongruous with the pace of the region. It might take more than one night to become fully removed from the outside world and completely settle in, but so much the better. I have stayed here twice before and regret that these were both only one night stays. Not included with the overnight rate but nevertheless not to be missed is the house tour. It is almost unheard of to find this extensive a collection of furnishings in their original setting but most importantly in their original condition in a Southern Plantation that has never been sold out of the family since the 1790's. The current owners are the 7th and 8th generation of the family that built the place, and share their love of the area with guests. But there is something more than all this at work here; a place such as this appeals to every sense, including the sixth sense, as few other points on this planet can penetrate a guest's spirit like this one does. If you find yourself at one of life's "crossroads," then this is the one place where you might be fully "reached." Don't miss this. You will find yourself booking your vacations here for years to come after you've tried it once because then you'll realize how much the world needs this place; once it's yours, then you'll realize how badly you've missed out until then.

We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and we had narrowed our seach down to St.Francisville, but didn't know which B&B we would chose. After much research and visiting some of the sites, we chose Butler-Greenwood-we made the right choice.
The owner was very cordial, warm and hospitable. She opened her many acres up to all the visitors to freely roam the grounds which were very peaceful and breath-taking with the pond, ducks, cats, peacock and many other animals roaming the land
freely.
It was truly a renewing and enriching experience for my husband and I. It truly nourished us both physically and spiritual to take on another 30 years!

I've stayed here twice, once alone and a second time with other female writers. I found the owner to be warm and knowledgeable, and we found out about a lot of local sights through her (and when I came with the group, she talked to us a lot about writing books). The tour of the house was fantastic; so much original furniture etc. and all from her 7 or 8 generations of (the same) family. That alone is unique. Each cottage had it's own decorations, and they all faced a lovely pond. The grounds with the hanging moss were comforting and "realistic" for what I imagined the southern plantation properies to look like. it's close enough to drive down to New Orleans and spend a day and night (overnight) there, and yet get back to small town treasures (and antiques).

“Great plantation home in God's country”

Great plantation home to visit and relax in old ante bellum atmosphere. The home is full of family history still owned by the original family name of Butler. The tour is well worth it and you might just feel the spirits of the past walking with you. The owner is very knowledgeable of it's history and pleasant to talk with. The cottages are located in the rear of the home and offer a sense of intimate privacy for your special event or just a weekend get-a-way. Early morning walks on the grounds are very pleasant and serene. Sitting under the restored gazebo or the oaks will give you a sense of peace. After visiting ButlerGreenwood you will look forward to coming back real soon. This is truly God's country. A truly enjoyable place to visit.

This is one of vey few plantations still occupied by members of the original family, and the furnishings in the main house are fabulous, original and well kept. There is most certainly not plastic all over everything, only in one room with an 1850 carpet. You can tell the furnishings here didn't all just come from the nearest antique shop or interior decorator. The B&B is in individual well-equipped cottages, very peaceful and quiet and unique. Heartily recommend it. Since there's just one staff member in the main house, patience may sometimes run thin, but for tourists who are interested, the tour given here is one of the best.
