On a recent trip we needed a place to stop for the night in the Slidell, LA area. Really, all we needed was a clean place to lie down for a few hours. Location to attractions wasn’t a need. Besides beside the above, we needed the place to be inexpensive (do we ever NOT need that?)
I used my Expedia phone app to search for a hotel and a “phone only” deal popped up for this Microtel. To be honest, I’d heard not so good stories about Microtel hotels in the past but the $49 price and all of the great reviews made me give in and book the room. Boy, am I glad I did!
I didn’t ask, but this place looked like they had just opened – super nice!! When we walked in the 2 queen room I was blown away at all that was inside (besides the comfortable beds) – microwave, refrigerator, flat screen TV on the wall, nice coffee pot, nice bath (with plenty of towels), Wi-Fi, Ethernet hook-up (just in case you don’t want to go wireless), plenty of electrical outlets, good ironing board, & an iron that had a VERY long cord.
Then, when you get up, you can go down to the lobby and enjoy one of the best “free” breakfasts I’ve received at any hotel. Heck, there is even a lady who will make you omelets like you want them (for a “tip”)! Good flavored coffee creamers, various juice selections, & differing levels of “fat” percentages in the milk are sure to please the milk drinkers.
Top all of this off with good ole southern hospitality from the ladies behind the counter and you may even be willing to drive a little further instead of staying in a pricey hotel in New Orleans if New Orleans is your destination.
Located just north of the I-10/I-12 junction on I-59, this Microtel will NOT disappoint!
