“A Real Beauty of an Antebellum Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

This home is furnished with most of the original pieces and clothing of the people who lived here. Items were found in the attic. 300 year old live oak in the backyard.

“National Trust Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

I am not going to spoil this attraction by saying too much. This is a special House to visit with a vast amount of history known about it and the families that lived here. We were on a vacation from England and one of our aims while in Louisiana was to visit one or two antebellum homes. Our guide Audrey was brilliant and boy she knew her "stuff"! . Give yourself time to wonder around the garden and go down by the bayou, and think about the boats that used to travel up and down it.

“Historical home and beautiful grounds”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

If you're a history buff, you should enjoy this piece of southern culture. Much of the furniture is a couple of centuries old. It also contains nice paintings and dishes which date back prior to the Civil War. The grounds around the home are well kept. It sits on Bayou Teche and, close to the bank, are huge oak trees which are probably about as old as the home. The office where you purchase the tickets is across the street from the home. Before visiting the home, the visitor can view a short film about it at this office.

“Historic Treasure!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

This is a wonderful place for education and learning about southern culture. The artifacts and history related to this property are amazing. It is also located close to other downtown New Iberia historic attractions. Absolutely worth a visit if you like antebellum homes and small town history.
