“Finally Figured Out How to Get In”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

This hotel is very difficult to get to because the road in front of it is closed (for almost 9 months!). From the highway, it looks as though the hotel entrance is closed also, but, if you go ahead and turn onto the road that says CLOSED, you'll see the Hampton Inn entrance is actually accessible. I have stayed at this location 3 times and each time, the room is decent, but the location and the desk staff are not what you would expect at a Hampton Inn. There is a marquee out front that says something like, "We are so glad you are here", but you don't get that feeling from the front desk staff. They seem to usually have friends or family in the lobby hanging out and chatting with them, and you get the feeling you're intruding on their visit when you walk in. There is one woman named Melanie who was friendly. The rooms are clean and the beds are okay. The TV had static on every channel, and, after calling to the front desk and letting the phone ring at least 15 times, we finally gave up on getting it fixed. The doors to the rooms are along the outside of the building, like in a motel, so it's pretty noisy. Our room was right by the stairs, and we heard people dragging their luggage and letting it bang down the stairs - bam, bam, bam! There is a nicer, newer Hampton Inn in West Monroe, but it's usually booked and is higher priced. So, if you're just needing a place to lay your head one night to break up a long road trip, this location is fine. For any other purpose, we'd recommend choosing a different place.

I was scared to death about staying here because of bad reviews. I even tried getting my money back from Priceline because of what I had read. Priceline had a no refund policy so we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did! The rooms were immaculate, beds were comfy, I saw no suspicious loitering, there was no awful smell, and no loud noise throughout the night. The area did not seem to be all that bad. Oh, and absolutely NO MILDEW in the restrooms. The hotel is an outside entrance only and you can tell it has been remodeled. It has been remodeled and newly updated with granite countertops and was very modern!! We were more than happy with our stay and slept until 10:45 am because of comfort!! This was a great deal at $65 and fit the description of 2.5 star hotel. In my opinion it was every bit worth 2.5 stars. Even the front desk personnel were very helpful! I would stay here again. And not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from?

This was a very nice hotel the staff was very nice to us. the staff even called our room to make sure we were ok. The Hotel was very nice and clean. I would go back to this Hotel. The owner should give the staff a raise for customer service, they know how to treat you.

Rooms are what you expect from HI but the rest is below average...especially for a HI. Service, amenities, security, and hospitality are well below what you would expect staying at a HI. Buyer beware...you will get the same rate as most across the country but do not expect the quality of a regular HI.

I was a little skeptical and somewhat scared of staying in Monroe ( people had me worked up and said it was scarey) but it was very nice, clean and the staff was friendly although not helpful! When we went into our room the fire alarm kept beeping low battery so I called and they said someone would be right up well needless to say no one showed up so we just took the batteries out. The location was very close to Duck Commander office so that was very convienent.. We ate at resturaunt 17 ( I think) it was a wierd name but had the bed crab cakes you could ever eat and trust me I have eaten plenty..

We last stayed here on July 19, 2013, after having stayed a few times in the previous years. The property has always been an older one with outside corridors, etc., but this time will probably be our last stay (despite the low HiltonHonors points!). Toilet in our first room was constantly running, so maintenance came to work on it while we went to dinner. Came back, was told it was fixed, after 1 flush it started running again. Desk clerk moved us to a comparable room. Once there, we noticed a really horrible mold problem in the bathroom---several inches' worth along the ceilings. We didn't feel like moving again so didn't comment and went ahead and stayed the night. I did show the desk clerk a picture the next morning and she promised to have it looked at. On the plus side, the staff is friendly. There's only just so much you can do with an older property. Wish Hilton or the owners or whoever would remodel or rebuild. There's no reason why a city like Monroe shouldn't have a lovely Hampton Inn!

Room Tip: Fitness center is located at the hotel next door.

This hotel is an older facility. Our room was very clean, but there were some cosmetic issues in the furnishings and bathroom. It could use a remodel. The staff was very friendly and we experienced no problems. Will stay there again if in the area.
