“Good Location, service, room but the smell is terrible.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013 via mobile

Me and my family stayed here for two nights before our cruise. The front desk help was great. She was very nice and informative. The hotel is in a great location. Lots of restaurants and stores near by. The room is your typical room. The bathroom is kinda small but the bed is extremely comfy. For this area I feel we got a good deal on the room. My only real complaint is the smell which knocked us over like a heat wave when we walked in. But, after a lot of air freshener we got use to it.

We stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. The first night was a bit high for the type of room but the 2nd and 3rd nights were ridiculously high. In their defense, a lot of the
places were high due to the Essence festival that weekend, but I believe $199 is just plain robbery for 2 double beds and a tiny bathroom. The staff was very nice, I do not fault them at all. Breakfast was typical cereal, muffins, waffles, etc. We wont stay at this location again.

On a cross-country motorcycle trip, we got caught in a downpour on our way to New Orleans. We decided to stay where we were and travel into the city the next day. This hotel was the nicest and cleanest hotels we stay in on our trip. It was very convenient to restaurants and not far from the city. Considering the room, the pool, laundry, breakfast and the convenience, it was well worth the money!

For $100 A NIGHT 15 minutes from the Big Easy, this was a good deal. Front desk worker was a big grumpy when we first came in. Although she set us up with our reservation, as routine--she wasn't very hospitable with answering questions about parking, etc. We missed the breakfast too, unfortunately. We got there just in time to see the lady putting the food away. SHe offered us what she could, muffins, fruit, and yogurt. But got a good sleep, and the room was super clean and you could tell it had been remodeled/updated.

The only thing I could suggest is for the front desk person to show a bit more friendliness when guests check in. My partner is very friendly and tried to engage her, but she wasn't into having a conversation. Everyone can have a bad day, and it was later in the night--but it makes a difference with a hotel experience for the hotel staff to make you feel welcome, as compared to an obligation. With that sad, a younger man helped us the next day get some more towels and with some information we needed and he was quick to provide us with what we needed. And also very friendly and courteous.

Room Tip: Be prepared for walking and going up stairs if your room is in the back.

The main reason we stay at LaQuinta is that they accept pets. For the age of this location, it is well kept. The staff were friendly and helpful. This location is easier to enter and exit than the location on Causeway Blvd.

We stayed for 5 days. The property is older but the rooms have been updated recently. The air conditioner was relatively quiet and the room was very clean. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, getting us a fridge when our room did not contain one. Breakfast was standard fare, and the Belgian waffles were tasty.

Room Tip: Room 203 has 2 windows, a corner room. Very quiet.
