I have visited this restaurant 4 times. It is a relaxed, casual family restaurant. The food is good and portions are generous. HOWEVER, to say the service is bad indicates service exists. When in reality the service is nearly non-existant. My observation is that they typically have 1-2 servers for the entire restaurant, along with a younger person that assists. Unfortunately, the team effort does not achieve any efficiency. Each time I have been to the restaurant the service has gotten worse (which I didn't think was possible). This last visit I had a Groupon. I am under the impression that a Groupon has two effects. #1 it boosts business and #2 it gives a restaurant an opportunity to show it's self off to new customers. Therefore I thought -maybe- Randazzo's would have staffed with the expectation of a busy evening. Instead on this Friday night, there was one server for the entire restaurant with the helper. My daughter and I sat ourselves. Menus are already on the table. Eventually the waitress came by for a drink order. When she returned she collected our order. Then we waited and waited and waited. Eventually our entres were dropped off. -BUT our salads were forgotten. I asked about our salads. She apologized, left the entres and said she would come right back with them. I looked at my watch. 10 minutes later she ran by with the salads. We finished our meal and again waited and waited and waited. Our drinks were not refilled. Our dirty dishes were never, ever removed from our table. I watched as other customers would get up and walk to the counter to beg for a drink refill, others knew were to go and get their own to-go boxes as though they knew not to expect them from the server any time soon, if at all. I finally flagged the server down asking for a check. As she handed it to me I gave her the groupon and asked it she needed to take it off the bill before I submitted my credit card. She said she could just take it all at once. So I handed her both the groupon and my debit card. Eventually the helper came by the drop off my debit card slip and pen. However, the entire bill had been charged to my card. The Groupon had not been applied. I asked her what happened to my Groupon? She snapped at me that no one gave her any Groupon. She went on to literally fuss at me, "As you can see we are very busy right now!" I was shocked. Is it my fault or in any way my concern how busy the restaurant is? In fact, my entire dining experience was ruined by the lack of staff and overcrowding of the restaurant. Need I be nastily reminded of the fact as I am incorrectly charged? The helper ran off to the server asking about our Groupon. Eventually the server comes to the table, apologizes for the error and shows me that she has voided the previous charge and ran another charge for the correct amount. She goes on to say that the bank may take a few days to correct this. She says if it takes more than 2-3 days, to call her. So I should have been charged $20, but instead I was charged $40, then $20 for a total of $60 taken from my bank account. -and now I have to check this transaction for days to follow with my bank and may even have to recontact the restaurant to further correct the error. This night will never end! Low and behold a solid week went by with the 2 charges on my account. I called the restaurant. They blamed my bank. I called my bank. The bank said the staff at the restaurant may have voided it in the machine, but that there is more to the process than that and they probably don't realize it. So I call the restaurant a second time. The server is now clearly tired of hearing from me. She has the owner in the background chiming in. Both are telling me the bank is wrong and they are right. I was told, "what do you want me to do?" and "are you insinuating we are trying charge you extra?" -I just want my money back…PLEASE. The call was ended with the server telling me to have my bank call them. So I am supposed to ask Capital One to call the waitress at Randazzo's so she can explain banking to them.
Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this business/restaurant.
