Description: In January of 1982 after establishing Jacmel Inn, a fine dining restaurant, and Brady’s Grill and Bar in Hammond, Hoot Owl owners Paul Murphy and Rick Colucci along with Mandeville native Wallace Simmons took over the lease of the former Prieto Dry Goods store on Girod street in Mandeville. Paul, Rick and Wallace completely remodeled the interior on their own with a vision to bring a classical New York style dining room to the quiet North Shore town. The extensive remodeling was an example of keeping the unique New Orleans style structure outside intact while creating a rich restaurant experience inside. Upon entering the foyer of Nuvolari's, you can tell that a unique restaurant lies before you. Rich hues of wood and soft lighting create an aura of sophistication that relaxes patrons and prepares them for a wonderful dining experience. This one of a kind architecture, consistently superb cuisine and wonderful staff make Nuvolari's a true dining experience!

“Great find!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2010

I had a business trip to the North Shore area of greater NOLA and my wife picked Nuvolari's out of the yellow pages. What a great find. We first sat at the bar and the bar staff were very friendly and helpful. Our waitress was great and I'd have to say, after having spent all of our many previous trips in NOLA itself, the food here compared very favorably to the places we usually eat at there, like Emeril's and Commander's Palace. The only thing different is the show you get at those places; food prepared tableside, a wait staff instaed of a dedicated wait person, etc... I need to go back again this week and I'll be there again.

“We go fairly often. Food, service...”

We go fairly often. Food, service & atmosphere keep us coming back. Grilled redfish is a signature dish. We ask for Andy as our server.

“Is Mediocrity worth the expense???”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2008

While the service was superb, and we love the ambience, the food is just fair. Will go there again but be very selective. The soft shell crab was very good, but the accompanying veggies were soggy with butter.

“2nd time not a charm!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2006

I first ate here last New Year's Eve and really like it a lot. We went again but will probably never go back. It started off promising with a really good caeser salad and bread, but went downhill from there. The service was very good, especially our waiter, but the food was terrible and very expensive. My canneloni was overpriced and not good at all ($17.50). My husband ordered bone-in ribeye which basically had no meat at all - just bone and gristle - for $29.00. He sent it back and asked for the medium-well sirloin instead. After waiting a while (and after the rest of us were done eating) he received his steak burned on outside, rare on inside. He normally can eat medium rare steak but had to send this one back because it was too raw! He finally got it back really burned this time but ate it because he was starving. The sirloin had a lot of fat also (which they usually don't). We were not impressed. The waiter did offer free soup, which we declined, and then brought all out two desserts on the house. The cook also came out after the steak was brought back to my husband the third time. So, good service, bad food about sums it up. It wouldn't be so bad if the prices were a little more reasonable.
