Description: In January of 1982 after establishing Jacmel Inn, a fine dining restaurant, and Brady’s Grill and Bar in Hammond, Hoot Owl owners Paul Murphy and Rick Colucci along with Mandeville native Wallace Simmons took over the lease of the former Prieto Dry Goods store on Girod street in Mandeville. Paul, Rick and Wallace completely remodeled the interior on their own with a vision to bring a classical New York style dining room to the quiet North Shore town. The extensive remodeling was an example of keeping the unique New Orleans style structure outside intact while creating a rich restaurant experience inside. Upon entering the foyer of Nuvolari's, you can tell that a unique restaurant lies before you. Rich hues of wood and soft lighting create an aura of sophistication that relaxes patrons and prepares them for a wonderful dining experience. This one of a kind architecture, consistently superb cuisine and wonderful staff make Nuvolari's a true dining experience!

“A romantic dinner in a charming historic building a block from the lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

We enjoyed a lovely romantic dinner at this popular local restaurant in historic Old Mandeville last week. Nuvolaris is a consistently good restaurant featuring freshly grilled seafood and traditional Italian favorites in a casual upscale atmosphere . We ordered grilled redfish topped with lump crabmeat sauce . It was light and flavored with fresh herbs, and served with seasonal vegetables. The chocolate cake was absolutely exquisite . We enjoyed the featured wines and locally made Abita beer. The service was good and the bar is a comfortable and attractive spot for a before dinner drink. This restaurant is great choice for couples and friends. After dinner we walked along the lake enjoying the view and sunset, it was like being on vacation yet close to home.

“Veal Picata was superb with excellent service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

A friend and I dined for a quick dinner prior to a business meeting. The architecture was unique as this building was a grocery store 100 years ago in the quaint "old downtown" of Mandeville, just blocks off Lake Pontchartrain's northshore. As a southshore resident of New Orleans, I don't wander to the northshore frequently, but I should. A trip to this restaurant is worth the near hours drive.
The Veal Picata dish was flavorful, with lots of tender veal. The sauce was lemon tasting, but not too tart. I little on the pricey side, but as I said, well worth it. My friend's dish, the chicken Florentine, was also tasty and a hardy portion.
Lydia was our waitress and was very accommodating to get our food out quickly, enabling us to make it to our business meeting on time.

“Long on atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

Brought 25 clients here recently for a business dinner. A very intriguing place--old, yet in a classic way. Meeting room was snug for this crowd but not bad. Service was stunning as was the food. It exceeded all our expectations!

“Shame on Me!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

This local restaurant has been consistently great every time we have a meal there, but for some reason we don't go that often and usually go in to New Orleans instead. We recently had a birthday dinner there for my daughter as per her request. All meals we exceptional. The salmon was particularly prepared with perfection and was well seasoned. Others enjoyed the ribeye, the panned veal, and the mahi mahi special. I would also recommend the italian salad.

I will make a point to frequent this restaurant more often!
