My partner and I have been customers since we started dating 6 years ago. The food has always been good and the ambience excellent led by the owner Phil and his attentive team. It has always been "pricey" but last night broke all records. For our two course meal (starter and main), a bottle of Chablis (£10 in Waitrose; £30 in the Gamekeepers) and a bottle of still mineral water, we paid £96.41 which included a compulsory service charge of 12.5%. My partner had a starter of Crayfish Salad followed by Breast of Chicken and I had Thai Fishcakes followed by a Gressingham Duck leg. The food is very good but not exceptional and at the end of the day, The Gamekeeps is a pub albeit in a very salubrious village outside Basingstoke but not an exclusive restaurant in Bray. Sorry, Phil, but this is "ott" for us. If I had seen you last night, I would have told you the same thing.
