“Trout Point Lodge review - a must if you visit Nova Scotia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2012

This was our first trip to the province, visiting the mainland only. We loved Trout Point. We will certainly return. Hard to descripe the beauty of this place and the authentic Canada-type experience. It's just what you want when you think of going to Canada in style. Everyone we met was very personable and friendly.

Truly a gem--not in the rough, but in the forest! The moment you arrive you are taken by the raw beauty of this wilderness lodge, The food and service we found equally gratifying. Wow what a place , top shelf... Trout Point Lodge is hard to do justice with a review. The rooms are very spacious and inviting. So cozy you just want to curl up & read a book. The lodge has comfortable spaces everywhere - the library, great room, around the firepit, on the island. There's a hottub for warming up in the evening and a sauna right next door.

What a refreshing stay! The place was quiet 'cause they had just opened, but we still really enjoyed ourselves. We were treated like royalty. Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. The rooms were really comfy and huge. The food was excellent and healthy. We kayaked several times a day and caught a few brook trout too! The live music before and after dinner (around the fire pit) was a really nice touch also.

This place overwhelmed us with all the fine touches and personal service from really friendly people. Trout Point is a stunning hotel in gorgeous surroundings. Fabulously run place with amazing food. Locally-sourced staff were very wonderful, and pleasent to speak with-- fantastic service from check-in to check-out. Top Notch!

A long trip to an extraordinary haven. The rooms are rustic and elegant, Adirondack-type and comfortable. We didn't come to work and thought it was fine to access the internet via a beautiful picnic table in the open air. We took advantage of the canoes at sunset, a hike to a nearby mountain and explored the towns about 30 minutes away. Very relaxing and quite lovely. An unexpected treat--a bottle of champagne for a special birthday, gratis. One dinner was sumptuous and the other dinner very average. We enjoyed chatting with the other guests at dinner, all of whom were from different countries, eating family style. Our biggest disappointment is that we never had a chance to meet the owners, who seemed a bit indifferent to the guests. While the other staff was more than accommodating, when one ventures out to a setting so far away, more personal attention from one of three owners helps make the trip even more worthwhile. We would have liked to talked with the owners, having both lived in New Orleans. The library was not quite up to snuff but most folks bring their own books (we were spoiled from the library at Canoe Bay Relais and Chateau). While coffee and a muffin for breakfast were complimentary, a full breakfast was $25 a person, a little steep for a couple over four days Recommend for couples who are resourceful and don't need much guidance on how to take advantage of pristine remote vacation spot.

We spent an amazing 4 days at Trout Point Lodge. The property is amazing, the food is out of this world, and the staff is one of a kind. The lodge is nestled in the middle of the forest, next to the river. The scenery is so spectacular, whether you stay on the property or venture out on their guided tours. The Forest Suite was unforgettable! We could not have picked a better place to honeymoon!

This lodge is one of those magical places you almost don't want to tell anyone about. It is just heaven. I have never had more outstanding service in all my life--the attentiveness and true caring of an awesome staff is one of those things you wish all resorts did, but don't. There isn't anything they're not willing to do. The food is exquisite and the outdoor activities are superlative. If you want, they will send wonderful guides along with you hiking, fishing, biking, or kayaking. Every night there is live music in the great living room before dinner, and by the fire pit after dinner. Truly relaxing! The website just doesn't do Trout Point justice.
