We chose the Baymont because it was conveniently located to I-10 and was reasonably priced. This motel competes directly with several others nearby, most notably an "America's Best Value" across the street, with its $44.99 sign out front. All of the motels in this area are fairly close to a major road, so some noise is to be expected.
This is a typical older motel, 2 stories, no elevator and outside entry doors. The spacious room has a CRT TV, small sofa, coffee table and desk near the entry and a king bed further back behind an archway. Another, smaller archway leads to a vanity area. The toilet & tub area are behind a door near the vanity. There's a refrigerator and microwave, iron & ironing board, hair dryer and coffee maker. Unsecured wireless internet is available but the signal wasn't particularly good.
Upon check-in, we realized the toilet was running. My husband fixed it, but the problem recurred. We didn't want to change rooms, so decided to live with the problem. At check-out, the clerk asked if the room was OK and I reported the problem.
With its running toilet, crooked towel rack and oddball shower head (whose center came off when my husband attempted to adjust it), the bath & toilet area was not in good condition.
While in the room, we we able to hear voices next door and outside as the motel began to fill up. We heard more traffic noise than I expected, including motorcycles and trucks. Noise is something that I really dislike, and a problem I haven't had in other places during this trip.
Breakfast was included, and was pretty much as expected: the usual waffle maker, cold cereal, eggs (looked like powdered) in a crock pot. Coffee was fine, juice OK.
If we're in the area again, we will look for quieter accommodations.
If you plan to stay at this Baymont, get a room far in the back, on the 2nd floor and away from the...
