“Nice weekend getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013 via mobile

Lauberge is the closest thing to Vegas that you will find in the South. The grounds are well maintained, the pool area is beautiful (can't wait to come back and use it in the summer!) and the rooms are spacious. The casino isn't huge, but there are plenty of ways to spend your money! Several different restaurants are on-site, but we only ate at Desserts and Le Cafe, both of which were good. The only complaint I have is the sound of construction at 7 a.m. but, to be fair, we were warned about this. Overall, I got a great price for the room and it is definitely worth the 3 hour drive from Houston. Can't wait to return!

Check in was quick and efficient. Free parking=a nice touch! The separation of the casino and the hotel amenities was the best I have seen.
The room was nice. I am extremely particular about cleanliness....and overall upkeep of the facility. The table and other furniture showed signs of wear. The mattress was less than comfortable. The shower was not working properly but it was repaired within 15 minutes. What excellent service!

I got a really good deal, so I can't complain much. I would just like to see spic and span/white glove test put to all aspect of a hotel room. The little details are most important!

Overall experience Very Good for me and I am extremely meticulous. This is a beautiful property and the customer service is superior.

I can't thank the security team enough for the efforts put forth in finding my mother's wallet on Christmas Eve, especially Shelly Stevens. It was her tenacity that helped us in our time of panic as the casino was very busy. She went above and beyond to make sure we were aware of what was happening, took ownership of the issue and exceeded my expectations of resolving a very difficult situation in finding my mother's wallet. In the end, she built a long lasting relationship with our family, especially my mother. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Shelly! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Hope to see you next year!

The Check-in was wonderful, very friendly and most professional staff.
The room was large and very clean, although no refrigerator and not enough electrical outlets.
Food in the Buffet was outstanding, not cheap but really worth paying a 5star Buffet.
All the staff we encountered were excellent, professional and most courteous.
Overall, not the cheapest Hotel but worth paying for. The Casino was well maintained, very clean although in the 3 days I was never offered a free drink, I did see the waitress's but they always seemed to be dashing and ignored my calls for service.
The free coffee was cold and tasted awful.

Room Tip: Make sure if you book a Superior Room or one with a pool view that you get one otherwise they'll...

Needing a little escape from my work schedule we drove to L'auberge for a few days of R & R. Beautiful property-with lovely holiday decorations. The rooms are large and well appointed. We enjoyed the high level of service-in the casino and on the golf course!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the water!

Very attractive & well thoughtout hotel; service from everyone excellent except I question the management of Le Cafe; we had ordered club sandwiches & they were dry; no dressing & accompanying fries cold. But they came w/small portions of mayo & mustard; guess you fix your own. Architecturally & decor superb; & I loved the pix of the white face steer in the bath. Only 1 problems in the bath; it's huge, incidently, but there is no fan for condensation. Enjoyed the view from the tower.

Room Tip: There's some remodeling construction going on now on the 7th floor; pick another floor if that t...

I began staying at Lauberge shortly after they opened. It was a very nice hotel and resort. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, they had bath robes, Starbucks coffee, complimentary water bottles, decent toiletries with mouth wash, etc. First the bath robes went, then no complimentary water bottles, then starbucks was switched out for some crappy no name brand and the toiletries were down graded without mouthwash etc. Somewhat understandable with the economy. Should have figured it was the beginning of a significant decline.
In past years there was always someone checking the rooms to make sure they were in fact clean and did a good job. They appear to have this method in place still but who ever the checkers are need to be fired. The last two stays, i noted that the rooms were not very clean. This last trip it was down right disgusting! The sink and the tub were all scratched up. There was dried bits of something on the bathroom door. There were huge stains upon stains all over the carpet which should have been cleaned. it didnt appear that the carpet had been vacumed very well either. I had a room with two queen size beds. One of which obvioulsy hadnt had the sheets changed when i moved the pillows. All of this was reported to housekeeping who did nothing. Additionally, when i awoke the next day, i had several bites on my shoulder and then later developed a rash. I am pretty sure it is due to bed bugs. I phoned the hotel management to report the issue and ask that they direct thier attention to cleaning this room and having it exterminated so that a future guest would not have to go through what i did. Needless to say, i did not get a response. I have been staying at this hotel/casino for 6 years now and it has seen a drastic decline in this year alone. Not just the hotel portion, the service in Glo Bar is prettty much non existant, it is equally difficult to get a drink while gambling, and the food has declined since the steakhouse became Ember. I hope Ameristar will be better and that construction is complete soon. I travel on business to Lake Charles fairly regularly. Hopefully this will get Lauberge in line so that they will clean up thier act.

Room Tip: Dont stay here.
