We arrived at the hotel at around 4:30PM on 12/13/08, excited to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. My wife and I are usually very conservative, but thought we would splurge due to the special occasion. We had made a reservation requesting a quiet room with a garden tub. When we arrived, the young lady at the front desk, was extremely polite but noticeably apologetic about the smallest of things. She checked us in and directed us upstairs to room 220. The room was located beside the elevator and when we settled in, we noticed it was supplied with only a handicap shower (not quiet the garden tub). We immediately called the front desk to request the room that we had reserved. It seemed as though the young lady answered the phone knowing exactly why we were calling. She apologized and promptly arrived with keys to another room that she claimed to be an upgrade at no additional charge. The room looked terrific (garden tub, shower, bidet, mini-bar, plush sheets, etc.)! We thanked her and were left alone to prepare for our "dinner date." All went well with dinner and we returned to the hotel excited to use the garden tub. My wife called me from the bathroom saying that she didn't think we had hot water. Upon inspection, I learned that there was no hot water supplied to the tub and only one of the water valves worked at all. I was beginning to suspect why the young lady seemed so nervous and apologetic. I again called the front desk and was told that there was only one other room available with a garden tub. However, the room was not clean and no one was available to clean it. Our young, apologetic staff member was apparently the only employee working on Saturday night at the Juliet and at $185+tax/night, they could not afford to send someone out to clean the room. We decided to improvise and shot hot water from the bidet into the tub for about 30 minutes so that we could enjoy a warm soak (copy and paste this link to see the video of the "tub filling fun" - www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDdlYTyfucg). Somewhere in the middle of all this commotion, the lady called to let us know that they were reducing our rate to $149+tax (insulting). We fell asleep somewhere around 11PM but were awakened to the sound of the power going out at about 2:30AM (copy and paste this link to see the video - www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE19H_L_xqI). I called downstairs to notify management but, as you know from other reviews, there was no one available. Around 3:30AM, I heard a lot of noise coming from the stairwell (there was an exit located just outside our door). I opened the door to find who I imagine were two staff members saying that they were trying to fix the problem. We fell asleep again only to be awakened by the sound of the smoke detector going off (apparently this happens when there is no power for a certain amount of time). With the light from my trusty cell phone, I was able to stumble around the room, locate a chair, and disconnect the thing. Ah, back to sleep. We were only awakened once more at 5AM to the sound of the power being restored. We were hoping to speak to the manager about all of this, but there was no manager available the following morning (weekends must be the slow time for these "posh" hotels). I left a detailed written message with the apathetic young man working the front desk, requesting that he somehow notify the manager and have her contact me by 6PM Sunday, 12/14/08 in order to avoid this review. I think he may have been breathing while I was speaking to him, but it was really hard to tell (par for the course). It has been over a day and I have yet to hear from the manager. In the future, I would suggest that the staff dress up in clown outfits, ready for something to go wrong (and it will). Now that's how you run a true "COMEDY BARN" Boutique Hotel!! In all seriousness, PLEASE BEWARE!
