2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

Disappointing stay recently. Rooms cramped and untidy. Washing facilities grim and location on a busy intersection not ideal. As to the breakfast, I am not in the habit of paying to stay somewhere and being told what time I have to have breakfast ( or go without). A better use for the red pyjamas would be to give the place a good clean

Room Tip: Go somewhere else

We spent two nights in early April 2013 at this delightful B&B. Our room was comfortable and we slept well. The road outside was heavily traveled during the day but quiet at night and presented no problem. The real attraction was the hosts, who greeted and treated us like old friends, serving cocktails and snacks on arrival, making dinner recommendations and reservations and including us in a family celebration. It was a unique and pleasurable experience.

My husband and I spent four nights at this Louisiana B & B. It is a unique experience! The hosts, Pat and Maugie Pastor are very experienced in the hospitality business and they have created a home that is quirky and full of character and beautiful period features, into which they provide the warmest of welcomes. Our room, the Garden Room, was large and very comfortable and our separate bathroom spacious.
I am usually reluctant to stay in B & Bs preferring the anonymity of hotels which better suit my British reserve. I dread feeling that I'm intruding in someone's home. But Maugie and Pat provide you with a comfortable sitting room, beautiful verandah, complimentary drinks in the guest fridge and after dinner liqueurs in the sitting room and they leave you alone to 'get on with it'. Having said that they are both available for drinks and canapes in the late afternoon and at breakfast in the mornings and will make excellent recommendations and reservations for you. They are very warm and knowledgeable and have a wealth of stories and anecdotes should you wish to engage but they are not over-powering. Maugie looks beautiful in her red silk pyjamas as she serves the unique 'Oh la la breakfasts' in the morning and elegant in her black silk outfits in the early evening. I'm so pleased we chose this B & B - it played a major part in our lovely trip to Louisiana and I loved every minute I was there. Thank you Pat and Maugie.
The location is convenient for making your excursions but you have to have a car here - it is at the juncture of two roads on the outskirts of Lafayette, one of them very busy.
My only criticism is the one I apply to all hotels: no spray for hair-washing - only a fixed overhead shower and no small individual reading light.

This was a wonderful surprise. Wonderful hosts, so friendly and helpful. Immediately felt like part of a family. I would recommend this to everyone. Food was very good. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Our first trip to the South.

My husband and I stayed here two nights (April 5-6, 2013), in the Bouree room in the cottage in the back. Maugie and Pat are wonderful hosts, greeting us with a tour, a T'Julep, hot appetizer, and lots of information on the area and the house. After describing some restaurants and giving us menus to look over, Maugie made reservations for everyone who wanted them. Our room was quite comfortable, with a lovely four-poster bed, small refrigerator stocked with sodas, a coffee maker ready to go, and a nice bathroom. Being at the back, it was a quiet room because it was far from the busy street. When you are in the house itself, it doesn't seem like it's so close to a busy street because there is a very tall hedge at the outside edge of the garden. Both breakfasts were absolutely delicious, served in either the porch or the formal dining room. Either way, the tables are set beautifully and Pat and Maugie's service is excellent. I love Maugie's red satin pajamas that she wears for breakfast! With dishes such as crustless vegetable quiche, garlic grits, baked yam slice with pecan sauce, tiny pancakes with either cane or maple syrup, and the mardi gras eggs with ham on a fresh-baked biscuit with Pastor sauce, it is easy to tell that Pat and Maugie ran a successful restaurant for years. They are willing to help with anything such as finding things to do, helping to find lodging in other areas, and just generally answering any questions you might have. This B&B was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

Room Tip: The two rooms in the garconierre in the back are quiet.

Enjoyed a one night stay at T'Frere's. The hosts immediately made us feel welcome. Maugie was so helpful in making reservations for us at the Blue Dog Cafe. Afternoon T'Juleps and Cajun crab canapes were a real treat before dinner. We enjoyed the conversation, the accommodations and the southern delicious breakfast. GREAT coffee. We learned it was on the corner of a busy street; however, this is of no fault of the inn owners; Lafayette has grown "out to them".

We have stayed one night in two rooms. The owner is an old nice and charming man, full of good advices and always willing to help. The breakfast is very good and very tasty, since he used to own the best restaurant in Lafayette.

There are however a significant number of cons:
- the house is right on a road with a heavy traffic
- the rooms and bathroom are tiny and to be honest, quite ugly, offering little comfort.

Overall, it is overpriced. For the same price, you can have in Louisiana a wonderful room in a beautiful plantation, rather than a small room offering less comfort than a motel. The owners are charming, but most owners of B&Bs in Louisiana are.
