“Great Room, Great Gambling, Great Food-Coushatta-Yeah”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2010

Just got home from a 2 day gambling trip to Coushatta. We love this place. We go about every 4 months and we are like two kids in a candy store when we get there. So many machines to choose from; the penny machines are my favorite. The entire staff is friendly and always ready to please. We have been to the Lake Charles Casinos and find no comparison to Coushatta. Wow....the hotel is great. Very nice room and I hope we are able to stay there on our next trip. We love it......

We wanted to go for a roadtrip and read some pretty good reviews for this hotel. As soon as we got there my kids loved it! It was comfortable, the self parking lot was not too far from the hotel,(valet parking is right in front), it had a refrigerator so we bought some fruit, snacks,&drinks from walmart (which was about 2 towns down to the left). We stayed in room 339, it didn't have a Great view but it had free wifi, it was close to the elevators, easy to go downstairs, close to gift shop, kidsquest, casino, and the pool and massage room if we needed to. (someone said the 2nd floor can be noisy from the music playing??!don't know). My kids loved kidquest. I had been worried how my 4 yr old would take it leaving her there. The casino had icees too which when we left we took some for the kids and they were happy. The variety of slots are pretty good and I love the bonus games. All staff was friendly compared to Vegas or Kickapoo casinos where they look like they're going to jump you or can't smile on the job?! They have a gas station nearby. It was VERY HUMID the day we went but we had alot of fun.

When we retired in Oct of '09, the 1st thing we did was plan a trip to LA to gamble, golf and visit Natchitoches (the sight of the filming of Steel Magnolias). We started our trip with a one night stay at the Grand Hotel, and were so impressed that we extended that one night into 5 nights. So, of course, when we planned our next trip (a 6 week tour of Civil War battlefields); we planned finishing up with a few nights at our favorite hotel. I was amazed that after checking in we found NO bathroom tissue in the room, and many small bugs in the bathroom (both living and dead). Our request for TP was met with a 2 hour wait, and no one would do anything about the bugs. We then found that our safe had a low battery, and they would not guarantee we could retrieve our jewelry and cash should we need it without waiting for a locksmith to arrive for up to TWO DAYS.

There were no other rooms available, so we made do (uncomfortably) with what we had as we were told our credit card would be charged if we left for another hotel. I went to gamble alone (as we did not want to leave a large amount of cash unattended) and found that they were having problems in the casino as well. Many of the slots that I prefer to play would not accept the cash tickets generated by other machines at "cash out". The redemption machines also did not work, and there were limited staff at the cashier's booths and very long lines.

The trip was not a total loss for us as we chose to load up the car and go into Lake Charles to gamble, and came back 2 grand happier than when we left. Will we gamble again at Coushatta? Certainly. Will we recommend them again to friends - definately NOT. I know that our decision not to spend a grand with them will not affect them. However, good, common business sense would suggest that someone from the hotel's management staff would have at least shown a bit of concern regarding the bug situation. Even upon checkout, when I suggested they have housekeeping sweep the floors, the clerk just lookat at me and rolled her eyes. We are EXTREMLEY disappointed with this last stay there.

Had a very good experience with this Hotel. Arrived a little early and had to wait awhile before I could check in, but other than that the room was very nice and clean too. Besides the coffee maker it also had a microwave, small refridgerater, iron and iron board.

  • Liked — Room airconditioner was very cold.
  • Disliked — the wait for check-in
