“Great Breakfast and fun in the bayou...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2010

We (2 adults and a 3 and 5 year old) were in Houma to visit family and do some day trips. Great place to start the day (don't skip breakfast unless you're BP and have to leave at 6 am). Our kids loved dancing out the door of our room and jumping into the swimming pool. We had washer and dryer, tv, microwave, and all in all a great times. The rooms are not large (but very quite and sleepable) and that turns out to be a plus because you keep yourself and children organized. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed at the Crochet House for 3 nights to experience Southern Louisianna after 2 nights in New Orleans. Our hosts, Leland and Sally Crochet, could not have been nicer or more helpful. We used this location to visit plantations, swamp rides, and the bayou country. Leland and Sally were extremely helpful in giving advice and recomendations as well as being genuinely nice people.. Breakfasts were wonderful with more than we could eat and the conversation only added to the experience. For anyone interested in a true Southern Louisianna experience or just a restful night after a long drive we highly recommend Le Crochet House.

We just spent 2 nights with Leland and Sally. We stayed in a room just off the pool. For $65 a night (including tax), this place can't be beat. Leland did everything in his power to make us feel comfortable. His breakfasts were fun. We had beignets that we loved. We asked him for the recipe and he gave it to us but you'll have to ask him if you want to know it, too. They were great and it led to a good story as well.

He and Sally are Cajuns and what better way to learn more about the culture and the area. He also hooked us up for a swamp tour at a moments notice. This is the kind of service you expect from concierges at high end hotels.

The room was small, but still had room for my laptop and a king sized bed, too. Everything was clean and worked fine. One big plus for us was the washer / dryer combo in the room. As I said, lots of extras for the price. Did I mention the kitchenette? We didn't use it but we had one. The other couple we ate with bought fresh shrimp and cooked shrimp in their room one night. Where else can you get all this for the price? No place we've ever been.

The Crochet's, Leland and Sally are the most gracious of hosts!!.....We arrived at our spacious and well equipped feather bed unit with a down home Louisiana bayou country welcome.....From the first moment, we felt we were staying with good people, good people like family people.....Our stay was marvelous, the breakfasts, if you can call them that for the abundance that approached lunch and a half dinner too, all of great tasty homemade dishes, made all the more special as they were mostly unfamiliar to us in the preparation, a new and memorable experience for both of us.....Boy, do these guys know how to put together a Cajun breakfast.......And it all starts each morning with Leland meeting you at the back door with a new and colorful chef's hat to start things off!!.....At one of our breakfasts, we sat with these fine people and talked for a couple hours after.....They told us of their rich and colorful history in this enchanting place, their French and Cajun heritage, the many years that it took before their ancestors came to settle this place called Cajun country, and about their own lives here together.......At one point, we even brought out the guitar......Now that's Cajun hospitality!!......Our advice, if you want the real goods in Cajun country, go to the Crochet House!!......You won't be disappointed!!....Joe & Melabeth...Englewood, Florida

If you want the warmest welcome, the most generous, genuine and passionate Cajun hosts, then come to the Crochets' place. Leland and Sally will make you feel at home like at no other B&B. The Fench toast at breakfast is to die for, and the conversation will keep you enthralled as you hear about how this husband and wife teams' ancestors travelled on the same boat down from Canada all those years ago. If we ever come back to Houma (which we may do for the 'second-largest Mardi Gras' in the country), then this is where we'll stay. Wonderful.

If you want to relax and capture cajun flavor in its purest there is absolutely no better place to stay at any price. The rooms are clean and the beds are superior to any hotel. With a sparkling pool and gorgeous grounds its a slice of cajun heaven. The hosts Leland and Sally witl make you feel like family and will happily share their knowledge of the area and its history. Breakfast is delicious, unrushed, plentiful and cooked to perfection.I cant want to go back there again and Let the Good Times Roll!!
