“Good food - nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

We stopped at Big Al's as I had read some good reviews. We got the charbroiled oyster plate, stuffed crab and fried butterfly shrimp. All were very good - prices were about right for this type of food. Plenty of food on each plate. Good service on the drinks too. Nice bar selection. We were glad we stopped.

“standard fried fare”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

There is really nothing bad here, just not anything to make you long for another plate. No "wow factor".The selection is fine, the atmosphere very much suits the cuisine and the customer's expectations.

“Quite the selection of cajun food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

I got a dose of sticker shock looking at the menu prices, but the portions were large so the higher prices were probably adjusted about right. The batter on the crawfish and shrimp was rather unique, not quite what I am use too as I was looking for a stone ground corn meal batter and it was not that. It was a great place for large families as there were quite a few on hand.

“Good food and service is never a bad idea.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We stopped in on our way through Houma because the lot was full and we were hungry. Crab cakes, shrimp stew, boiled crab, crab soup and gumbo were all a hit. We were glad we stopped.

“Great seafood!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

I am a local and eat at Big Al's regularly (at least once a week)! Don't be fooled by the bad reviews. (You wouldn't believe me if I told you.) The food is so good. The lunches are great, especially the crawfish cakes with dill sauce or the shrimp stew. The gumbo and the crab soup are mouthwatering and the boiled seafood is excellent. Try the fried gator. (It does taste like chicken!) You can not go wrong with ordering the seafood at Big Al's. And the atmosphere is great too.
