While it doesn't need to be said, New Orleans is known for it's outstanding cuisine and Applebee's will certainly never fall into that category. However, after days in the French Quarter, my friends and I went out exploring and stopped in here for a quick lunch. What an awful idea, that was. First, it was around 60 degrees in the restaurant and because we had to sprint in from the rain and were soaking wet, it was nearly unbearable. After that, we walked in and the hostess seemed like she had no idea where she was or what her job entailed, repeatedly saying "Where do I sit them?" until a co-worker told her to sit us at an open table... Right. Fast-forward and everything is extremely slow. Took forever to get our waitress to stop by, longer to get the drinks, and then she wandered off for another five minutes before coming back to take our order. One friend ordered the "unlimited" soup, salad, and bread lunch. I use the quotes because it was like pulling teeth to get anything after the first initial round, as in more bread (brought out one breadstick at a time) or even dressing (she never actually got any dressing for her salad). Another friend, who has a severe food allergy, asked for a sandwich with no mayo and no BBQ sauce. When the sandwich was brought out it had both. Sent it back, and the manager, who seemed to be very annoyed that my friend was inconveniencing his restaurant with something like this, asked again how he wanted his sandwich and walked off. No apology for the mix up, nothing... To top it all off, everyone had not only finished their food, but had been done for at least ten minutes before he got his sandwich back. All in all, it was an unprofessional establishment with low quality food and even lower quality service. As we spent the time exchanging Applebee's horror stories from previous visits (raw chicken for me, silverware 20min after the food got there for another) we have all vowed to never set foot in an Applebee's again. Save your money and go across the street to the McDonald's.
