“Park and Cruise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

Four of us had a room here the Friday night before our cruise. The place is old, smelly and dirty. We had a third floor room on the far east side of the building and the only working elevator was on the total opposite corner. It was a pretty long walk with all the luggage. The desk chair was broken and the paint is peeling off the walls and doors. On the bright side - they have a parking package that includes free shuttle to the port. But make sure you book with the parking package which isn't included in an Expedia booking.

We booked a non-smoking, king sized room as part of the park and cruise package. Despite our reservation stating non-smoking, our room had a strong odor of smoke, an ashtray on the desk, and cigarette burns on the toilet seat. When we asked the front desk about the room, they assured us that it was a nonsmoking room and that the ashtray was placed there by mistake and nothing was done to remedy the situation. My husband and I both woke up with scratchy throats and coughs, not the way we wanted to start our cruise.
We could hear the family talking in the room behind ours clearly through the wall. They were not talking loudly but we knew every word they said.
The front desk was very understaffed for the number of people that were trying to check in. Very long lines.

The breakfast matched the quality of the hotel. Simple and the bare minimum service provided.

The shuttle to the ship was fantastic. We were on the first 9AM shuttle and were the first group to board the ship. The return shuttle was terrible. We called and waited. After calling it didn't seem promising that the shuttle would ever come so we took a taxi back.
The parking was ample and well lit and I felt safe leaving my car there for a week.

The bed was very comfortable.

Our group of 8 booked 2 rooms here for one night prior to our January 2013 cruise. Location was easy to find, parking was ample, and rooms were basic but clean. We signed up for the 11 am shuttle at check-in and had no problems whatsoever getting to the port. Our only complaint was the service at the restaurant. We went for the 35 cent wings and $2 beers and what an experience! The restaurant was empty except for one couple. We ordered and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, parts of our meal came out. My sister got her chicken wings and my brother got the fries that came with his sandwich (but no sandwich). Then nothing for 45 minutes. When we finally got the rest of our meal, the sandwiches did not have the toppings on them we had ordered. Getting the missing toppings was a 10 minute ordeal. All in all, we were there an hour and a half and were nearly the only ones in the restaurant. Slowest dining experience I've ever had. Waitress was very apathetic and moved like molasses.

This was one of my worse hotel experiences ever. I stayed with my entire extended family in several rooms and we each bought the park-stay-cruise package. We each had our own bad experinces regarding poorly prepared rooms, public restrooms that had a terrible smell and overall bad serve.

My daughter had requested a baby bed with her reservation. It was not available upon arrival. When it was delivered it smelled of urine and my daughter had the baby sleep in her bed.

One of my other daughter's found dirty sheets on her bed. After several hours, she was provided with clean sheets she had to install.

I waited for nearly two hours at the cruise port for my return shuttle. Each time I called, we were told they had 3 shuttles running and they would be there in 15 minutes. Well, I exited the cruise terminal at 10:00 A.M. and did not leave the hotel until 12:30 P.M.

I would not recommend this hotel to a homeless person and will likely never stay at one of your properties again!

This is an older hotel but was clean and the staff was helpfull and cheerfull at our stay.We booked this hotel as they offer parking for cruise passengers. There is a resturant and bar on premises. We had no problems with staff or resturant on our two day stay. They supply transpiortation to and from the cruise terminal and to the ferry over to New Orleans.(Free ferry)
as we spent a day in the french quarter.Would stay again

Room Tip: Second and third floors would be quieter

The big sign read 'Happy Hour' and offered $2 beer and 35 cent chicken wings. Sounds fun doesn't it? Well, a room full of people wanting to be served. One bar tender who did not want to work very hard, one poor waiter to wait tables who attempt to do her job but too many people and no one to assist her, must have had one cook in the back room. For pete's sake, don't advertize if you can't provide the service. We sat down, waited, then went to the bar and did not get help, finally a rushed waiter comes by and apologises, took our order...took awhile to get our beers and we never did get our chicken wings. She came by our table several times and apologized stating that the cook had a pile of orders and the wings are coming but will take awhile. Several hours later and only 1 beer each, we found the water and advised that we wanted to pay for the beer and leave and to cancel the wings. She felt so bad she told us that it was on the house because she was unable to get us served.

The front desk had 2 people working it when we arrived to check in. Two long lines and a non-care attitude of the front desk personal. Guess I can't blame them and guess it is better they remain calm and non-rushed in order to do their jobs, BUT come on management! Late in the day, I went to the front desk to see if I could get some change and there was a long line and only one person doing the front desk! I decided not to wait.

Room service, came to clean the room on our 2nd night and forgot to put the sheet between the blanket and the bottom (fitted sheet on mattress) so the blanket covered us without a sheet underneath.

The hotel needs to supply enough people to serve the customers!

Room Tip: Demand management to have enough work staff on duty so that service can be possible.

Thank you Quality Inn & Suites for making our first stay in New Orleans so enjoyable. Charlene the front desk representative who checked us in was very professional and informative. She told us all about the free service the hotel has to offer such as free breakfast in the morning and the shuttle ride to Algiers ferry to downtown to New Orleans.
