I've stayed at this motel several times over the years. Obviously, this is not a 7 star hotel at a resort, but it is a good, comfortable, quiet place to stay if you're in the area.

Anyone in the area has heard of Mike Anderson - good food in the restaurant, and I assume room service is the same - never have used that.

As for the basics - bed is comfortable, TV works fine, and shower is warm. Bathroom looks at little aged - not dirty, but kinda like it's about time for an update. This is an old-fashioned Holiday Inn - doors open to the outside, so some may be worried about security. Personally, I can't vouch for the security, but it's always quiet.

The front desk staff is nice and courteous, and always prompt.

This place gets fairly busy at certain times due to work at the chemical plants within a half hour drive or so, so check before you assume you can show up without a reservation.

All-in-all, a nice place, and a motel I will likely use again.

My husband, and I with two other family members stayed at Holiday Inn Gonzales while attending a married couples 25th wedding anniversary activities. The lady at the desk was very polite and took care of checking me in right away. I had gone online under the hotel's website and booked the room already.
It didn't take but about 5 minutes to check in, she gave me a packet with my room cards, a complimentary cocktail card, and also a card for 10% off Mike Anderson's restaurant in the hotel for either Breakfast or Lunch. We ate and received refreshments at the anniversary activities so we did not get any cocktails or eat at Mike Anderson's, but when we left Saturday about 7:00 p.m. the parking lot was packed with cars from people eating and waiting to eat at Mike Anderson's. We plan on eating there next time we need to stay in that area. I had lived in Baton Rouge for about 4 years in the eighties and I knew of Mike Anderson's excellent reputation.

Our room was clean, decorated nicely and included a large fridge and a microwave which came in handy as my infant grandson's bottles needed refrigeration. I found this place very quiet although this was Thanksgiving weekend and others were staying there. The pool is nice and the landscaping is very well manicured at the entire place. My son worked out in the well-equipped exercise room not far from where our room was located and said it was very nice.

They were just putting up theChristmas decorations when I arrived to check in around 3:30 p.m. and by that night it was beautiful. I saw another lady taking a picture Saturday night of their 10 ft. tall beautiful Christmas tree in the lobby which was gorgeously decorated.

I only wish that I could have stayed longer but we returned home after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The lady at the desk was very accomodating on Sunday morning when I called to get an extended checkout time. She asked me what time I wished to check out and noted it on her book.

It is located near quite a few eating places and also very close to the Tanger Outlet mall. Many people were doing their Christmas shopping that weekend due to the many sales.

I would not hesitate to stay here again if the occasion arose and found all of the staff very polite and helpful.

I have stayed at other Holiday Inn's and I agree with another reviewer that this one has it's act together.

I stayed at this hotel and attended a party in the hotel bar. My check-in experience was very quick and the woman at the front desk (I forgot her name), was very nice and helpful. My room was extremely nice for the price (it was a lot more then I received at other Holiday Inn hotels that cost more). The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

“Excellent service, value, Delicious food”

Holiday Inn Gonzales

I organized a long awaited family reunion at the Holiday Inn in Gonzales in June 2006. The restaurant attached to this hotel, Mike Anderson's is famous at least in these parts. We had a few out of town relatives come in so we had 7 or 8 rooms reserved in addition to a banquet scheduled. They were attentive and helpful throughout the planning process and the actual event. Their policies, I feel were very reasonable, almost lenient. And what you get for the money was remarkable. I would definitely recommend this place for any conferences, weddings, parties or any other banquet type event. I've been in the event planning business before and I can tell you that these people have their act together.

“Nice retreat from the July heat & humidity”

Holiday Inn Gonzales

July heat in south Louisiana is unbearable.
I had a business meeting to attend.
My room at the Holiday Inn Gonzales faced a courtyard with landscaped pool. The room was a standard motel room, clean, cool and comfortable.
The meeting room proved to be excellent - food from Mike Anderson's adjacent restaurant was superb, service was above norm, and I will definately use this facility again.

Drawback - a little walk from the curb side parking to my courtyard door.
Big plus - Discount mall & various places to eat close by, easy access to Baton Rouge & New Orleans.
