This is the first time we have been compelled to write a review for trip advisor. However, our trip to Anantara Dhigu warrants a first review.
We were looking for a fairly last minute break with the kids. Easy I thought?? Well, I'd contacted a whole host of places and very few were courteous enough to come back to us regardless of whether they had places or not. The reservations team were quick to come back and answer any queries I had. The reservations team are a real credit to the brand and the customer service from the very start was only the start of things. The booking process took a couple of emails just to confirm availability and the rates, then just to confirm our arrival details so the transfer could organised.
On our arrival into Male Airport an Anantara rep was clearly visible as soon as we stepped out of the arrivals area. He took our bags and lead us to the nice dedicated anantara air conditioned lounge. The hostess offered us a welcome cold drink and checked our details off the list. We waited for another couple who where on the same flight and then we were lead to the speed boat for the transfer.
Again, boarding the speedboat the crew where very polite a extremely nice. They took extra special care of the kids. Nice cold towels and cold water where again provided. We were briefed on the time to the island. It only took 30 mins or so. Was pretty a exhilarating ride and the kids thought it was a great way to transfer to the resort.
On our arrival at the resort we were welcomed by a local drummer and the management and reception staff. We were then taken into reception and completed the usual formalities and were shown to our villa.
Very nice villa, set up as we'd requested for the kids. Really, the icing on the cake. The beach right outside was truly amazing. Just as you see it in the brochures!
Everyone we came into contact with was so nice and the level of customer service was outstanding. Not the obtrusive, in your face, ostentatious way, but in that nice discreet but always right kinda way that very few places can get right, but try to achieve. The guys by the pool always remembered the kids names, the bar guys, in the different restaurants. It was like you had a sign above you with your name on it. Amazing how personal the service felt.
Everyone seemed to want to move mountains to get things done.
We did have a slight complaint about our villa in day 2, this was resolved immediately without a fuss and was handled as we'd expected it would. No issues at all.
Our kids spent a lot of time in the kids club. Joelle and the team do a great job, and should be the reason why anyone with kids doesnt even think about going elsewhere!! The kids made new and exciting things everyday and loved it.
The food good. we did the buffet a couple of times which was nice, but preferred the restaurants. The kids menu was very good, and also decent value. The Thai restaurant was amazing. Again the staff did the resort proud.
Anyhow, we will be back again very shortly and think it will be our destination of choice for the foreseeable future.
During the course of my work I travel constantly, and stay in some pretty nice places. I must say this has to be the most memorable, and I can not recommend it enough. I hope the places popularity doesnt make it more expensive though!!!
We stayed in Villa 65, a sunset beech villa. If you have family it's ideal. Just next to the kid...
