“Great option away from the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

We stayed here during the busy Christmas period, and were really impressed with the place. It was quiet (apart from the ubiquitous Pinoy roosters which crow all over the provinces from about 5am!), well-maintained and really reasonably-priced. The only drawback is that it is a 10-15 min walk from the beach, but to be honest this was a good thing as it enabled us to check out Alona Beach and all the bars, shops, restaurants etc. Last time I visited in 2006, I barely stepped off the beach as my accommodation was so close. A good, mid-price option and real value for money.

I stayd at Alona Swiss Resort for one week in December 2012. It was a very nice stay and I extednded my stay with a couple of days.
The reosrt is just a couple of years old and very well maintaned. This was the nicest room I had in two month travel in the Philippines. For the price this is VERY GOOD VALUE.

Now the two minuses. They don't serve breakfast...but there are a lot a places nearby...but anyway...Also the Guesthouse is 10 minutes walk to the beach. I did not mind that, just a nice walk. So if You don't mind it is 10 minutes from the beach and they serve no breakfast I am 100% sure (I have seen some!) you can not find anything like this standart for the same price!!!

As you can see in my rating...Service= average.. (no breakfast) Value, Sleeping Qulity Cleanliness= Exelent, Location = Average, Rooms = Exellent, Fitness centre = the have no fitness centre

Overall, a very good place. We are a family who was travelling with 2 young kids (aged 2y 8m, and 1y3m). Rooms are very clean and modern. We stayed in one of the apartment suite rooms, which has 2 separate bedrooms with bathrooms attached to them. Both bedrooms have aircon, kitchen/sala area did not. By far, the best value apartment/suite place in Alona Beach. The main 8 rooms were built 2 years ago, and there are 4 new bungalow rooms by the entrance that were just finished a few months ago.

Pros:
Peaceful location.
Rooms are in great condition.
Great value for the price.
Pool has main swimming area with a deep part as well as a small kiddy part for families.
Noise from room to room is minimal
Great to have the kitchen facilities for this price.
Off the main road so there is no traffic noise.

Cons:
15 minute walk to the beach, or a 2 minute 20 peso motorbike/trike ride.
No restaurant, although Charts Restaurant is next door, but not open for dinner, and on the other side Panglao Regents is open for all meals. We worked out that it was best to order food in advance and bring it back to the room OR have one of us go and order and then bring everyone to the restaurant when the food was ready.
Roosters. Bring ear plugs because they start up at 4:30am.

Honestly, for the price you're not going to find anything better. The closer you get to the beach, the more expensive and louder (not sure about roosters) it gets. If you don't like roosters or having to plan food ordering strategically, or want to be close to the beach, then this isn't the place for you. If you don't mind walking/triking a bit, then this is the place for you. On the whole, we will probably be back soon.

Tip 1: With or without families, definitely go and check out Bohol Bee Farm for great food, and a fun outing. Or stay at Bohol Bee Farm, which we would have done if we didn't have kids, and in need of separate sleeping arrangements. The Bohol Bee Farm is 7km away from Alona Beach.
Tip 2: A big Nissan Van is 600 pesos to/from the airport with a little negotiating.
Tip 3: Bring sunscreen and umbrellas because Bohol weather fluctuates between cloudy, hot sunny and rainy.

I have picked this place due to some good reviews in tripadvisor, also the map location pretended being not so far from beach. The resort is small and looks very good at first sight after you have found it since it is located in the backyard of a backyard. The advantage of the location in the future might be that it is quiet, once the constructions are finished (workers start before 8, other resorts offer discounts for construction disturbance). The walking distance to the restaurants is about 10 minutes, same is for the beach.

The service - the is one receptionist and nothing else, no restaurant, no partnership or recommendations on other restaurants to get breakfast. Rooms are equipped with fridges but no water boiler or similar to prepare breakfast by yourself.

If you like to have a nice garden and pool and gave no problem being far from beach life, this is a good choice since the price is fair and the facilities is new. If you like to have breakfast at your place, good recommendations for island trips or a close by location to beach life I recommend to spend 500 P more.

I've just come back from Bohol after staying in the Alona Swiss. I booked there based on a recommendation and was delighted that I did. We stayed in an apartment and found plenty of room with two double rooms and a good size living area. The air con in the rooms worked fine and it was very useful to have a safe to store valuables. There was also a balcony area that we could sit out on in the evening and enjoy a few drinks.

The resort is a little way back from Alona Beach (10 mins walk) but is very close to a good divers centre (Sun divers) and restaurants. If you are looking for somewhere right on the beach, this won't be for you, although it's easy to walk there or get pedicabs etc. Also, by staying further back you tend to avoid any surrounding noise.

The staff at the hotel were friendly and the rooms were cleaned daily. They were also able to organise a driver for a city tour and he did a great job at a fair price.

I was really pleased with the resort. We paid a very reasonable price and got a lovely apartment in return. We're planning on returning again next year.

Room Tip: We were given apartment no. 11 and were very happy with it.

We stayed here last 3/11-3/14 for my birthday celebration and our experience was a blast. Resort was pretty, peaceful and well maintained. We came in early before for our check in time and our room was not yet ready because of the current guests who extended their stay. We didn't mind waiting for approx 30 mins to get in our room, the receptionist offered us drinks. Rooms were clean and comfy, ACs were working well, kitchen has a fridge, stove and utensils ready for use. Cable TV and WiFi access were absolutely cool. Garden and poolside are awesome. Bathroom has built in water heater, refreshing to use. We had clogged water in the toilet during our last day but they immediately sent a plumber and housekeeping to clean up the mess. Resort staff are friendly and courteous. ASR is not that far from the beach, entrance is a little bit rocky, getting in and out when you pass by the narrow street is a fun experience, you will be amazed that the property is very convenient because it's near to restaurants and grocery stores. ASR is highly recommended for families and groups who wants to have their simple but best Bohol Experience ever.
