I live in Tampa and used to good seafood (and several years in Europe tasting some of the best food). Over the past 3 years, I have spent several weeks in the New Iberia and Lafayette area. My son, who lives in Lafayette, and I thought we have tested all of the good restaurants between Houma and Lafayette. Tonight we had the best food we have ever had in Louisiana, including NO. The food at LA Seafood House is the bestt, including Prejeans, Vermilion Cafe, Jolie's, a couple of the Don's, Clemintine's (in New Iberia), Blue Dog, Charley G's, Cochan's, Landrys, Village Cafe, Yellow Bowl (in Jeanerrette, C'Bon's (in Mermentau) and others. LA Seafood House is head and shoulders above each of these. We shared the Garlic Crusted Drum (best fish either of us have ever had), the charbroiled oysters (best we have ever had), Lafayette barbeque shrimp (possibly the best we have ever had), end of season crawfish (too spicy for our taste), and stuffed french toast for dessert (fantastic). A relatively simple setting - and out of the way - but unbelievable food. BTW, this is my first review (of anything) that I have ever written - that is how impressed I am by the food here - I don't know what the other 3 reviews are talking about.
