“Great informative tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

We stopped at four plantations during our visit to the area (Laura, Oak Alley, Houmas and Evergreen), and each one of them highlighted an aspect of life and culture of that time - they complemented each other very well. The Houmas House is by far the most beautiful residence and grounds, with our guide being both entertaining and informative. There was a wedding taking place on the grounds, which made is really special.

“Place was Great..People where Rude”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Our trip to the Houmas House was Great....besides the staff..... upon waiting on our food everyone had there cellphones in their hands..while we needed assistance. I found that rude!!! after asking for our food we ask for manager and they stated that they were the manager..she said your food is coming and walked away on her phone. Great place..Great food....but the staff was rude!

“BEAUTIFUL HOME AND GROUNDS, GREAT FOOD!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

We visited this place and were overcome with its beauty and southern charm. The landscaping is like that of Bellingrath Gardens in Alabama and maybe even better. The history of the plantation is very historical and interesting. The home is beautiful and the staff is very knowledgeable. We ate lunch there and it was great and not overpriced. The crawfish tail salad we got was loaded with tails, the onion rings were battered and cooked to perfection, for $40 the meal was well worth it, that included 2 drinks also ( tea and coke ). The land is a must see, right off the levee and loaded with ancient live oaks. The gift shop is huge and offers a multitude of items for purchase from low to high prices. We loved this place and are very glad we came. The entrance fee to tour the house and the grounds was $20 a person. You will not regret visiting this plantation home, full of history and beautiful sights. This beauty is only found in the south of Louisiana :)

“Lunch at Houmas House”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

We stopped for lunch at Houmas House on our way to Lafayette. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous - Gone with the Wind-like, beautiful gardens and trees. We spent a long time walking around the grounds. We did not do the house tour, as that was an additional expense, and we were on time constraints. We had lunch at the restaurant. It was very good but a little overpriced. The atmosphere was lovely, but service was a bit slow. Food was good, but not exceptional. Really loved the experience for the surroundings. Please note that we were required to pay a $20.00 fee to enter the grounds, but were credited that amount on our food bill.

“One of the best plantations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

This was actually our favorite of the three plantations that we visited in this area. Our tour guide was well-spoken and knowledgeable and we enjoyed the tour. We appreciated that the guides wore period costumes. The house was beautiful and the furnishings very interesting. Some of them were simply priceless. To see the grand spiral staircase is worth the visit. The gardens too are wonderful. We could have spent several hours just touring these. Well worth the $20 fee for admission.
