We recently stayed at Bocage Plantation, owned by our friend and neighbor, Dr. Marion Rundell. The trip was a week long and included our 3 teenage daughters. Although we planned lots of fun activities in the Louisiana area, the girls always loved the time spent at Bocage best and asked throughout the day "When are we going back to the plantation"! I actually believe they would have been happy spending the entire vacation at Bocage, not venturing out at all!
Dr. Rundell has done such a wonderful job of bringing this beautiful plantation back to life. Bocage is exquisite with all of the grandeur of it's time. The period antiques, fine china and crystal enable you to imagine an antebellum life of long ago. And the guests are actually able to touch and use everything!
We were especially appreciative of the delectable breakfast that Amy and Roberto prepared for us each morning. Not only was the food scrumptious but the presentation and attention to detail was unsurpassed. The beds and bathrooms were wonderful, comfortable and impeccable.
And it was so much fun for the entire family to just hang out with Roberto and Amy at the end of our day. They provided so much entertainment for our teenage daughters and were extremely helpful with suggestions as to what to visit in the nearby areas. We so much enjoyed their company and hospitality that we took them along on a couple of our outings. The girls said the trip would not have been the same without them!
Thank you Marion for making this sumptuous stay possible for us and any others who wish to experience a truly fine plantation home and sincere southern hospitality. Amy and Roberto, we can't thank you enough for everything! You are the best!!
